Here all along I thought India had the most sacred sites, gods and idols -- oops!

Krishna, Kali and Co don't count. Heathen gods. Only Abraham's god seems to be the cause of so much trouble amongst his family. But being a Pastafarian I know the Flying Spaghetti Monster is the one and only true living god. http://www.venganza.org/

BBC News footage this morning show continued high overhead shell explosions of WP during the hours of darkness. Indeed, the only way this could be clearly seen was because illumination rounds were burning high overhead at the same time.

By all means call me old-fashioned or even slow-witted, but I find it hard to believe that you use WH at night to create a smokescreen for your advancing troops, but then lob illumination shells high above the target area to illuminate everything under the sun. It is evident (to me anyway) that the Israeli's are indiscriminately using WH against civilians.

Obviously, Hamas lob rockets into Israel that also indiscriminately target civilians too.

Meanwhile Israel have now forbidden any journalists from the war zone....

I understood that there is an Israeli court order permitting journalists entry to Gaza but it is the IDF that is illegally blocking them. But of course who is going to enforce the court order?

Has this man no shame? Why does he not do the respectable thing and turn himself into the authorities at the Hague? Hasn't he caused enough damage and death in the world? Why doesn't he just fuck off and die? Or at least shut up? Tragedy into farce.

Gaza solution is possible - Blair

[Image: _45349100_006677635-1.jpg] Tony Blair says an immediate ceasefire is possible

The conflict between Israel and Hamas can be resolved, former UK prime minister Tony Blair has insisted.
Mr Blair, now a Middle East envoy, said there was a "basis" for an immediate ceasefire if the supply of arms into Gaza from Egypt was halted.
But Mr Blair warned of a "more protracted campaign" if firm action was not taken and said the people of Gaza were living through "hell".
Israeli forces have continued to widen their ground attacks in Gaza.
'Clear action'
According to Palestinian medical officials, at least 110 people have died since the ground offensive began while Israel says it has killed 130 Hamas fighters.
About 560 Palestinians have been killed since Israel moved to end rocket attacks from Gaza 11 days ago, Palestinian officials say.

Israel 'expands Gaza offensive'

Mr Blair, who represents the UN, EU, US and Russia in the Middle East, said he believed discussions between Egypt and Hamas about halting the supply of arms and money to militants in Gaza were critical to securing a ceasefire.
There needed to be "clear, definitive" action to bring this about, Mr Blair said, adding that he thought all sides were willing to discuss this.
"I think there are circumstances where we can get an immediate ceasefire and that is what people want to see," he told the BBC.
Israel has insisted circumstances are not right for a ceasefire while rocket attacks continue to strike Israel.
Mr Blair, who has met Israeli leaders and senior Palestinian officials in recent days, called on Hamas to work towards a ceasefire to end the "appalling suffering" in Gaza.
Principles
"If they truly do care about about people in Gaza, there is a possible way that would have an immediate cessation of hostilities and that is obviously what any responsible person should try and achieve.
"For anyone living in Gaza, it is hell. It is bound to be. You are have got a situation where you are in an effective war zone."
Only a "credible" political solution towards a Palestinian state could bring peace to the region, Mr Blair said, stressing that "real change" in conditions for people in Gaza was necessary to achieve this.
Discussions between the international community and Hamas were feasible, he said, but only if there were "some common principles of agreement", namely Hamas' willingness to give up violence.
He urged the new US administration of President-elect Barack Obama to focus on the Middle East peace process, saying the issue was "absolutely central" to global security.
"If we want to resolve this, we can," he said.
"We have to grip it and sort it. If we do that with requisite dedication energy and commitment, we can resolve it."

Sorry Terry, that'll never happen... we nor anyone else in the christian world can afford that move. Better use of a "chips fall where they may" effort would be finding more of those $50 billion + Wall Street ponsey scam artists. You know what they say, where there's one, others do lurk...

What is the current *official* US total debt load? 10-15 trillion (probably much more)? Israel is a yearly drop in the bucket.....

Well, it's too damned bad that we still, after 200 and some odd years, cannot separate "church and state" from the political vernacular, now can we?

Wasn't that an intended purpose of the so-called "founding fathers" of this place? Oh, wait a minute, I forgot, they were all hypocrites to begin with, starting with The Declaration Of Independence stating that "all men are created equal..." except for my indentured servants and black slaves, that is.

Not to mention the slaughter of the existing inhabitants of the territory, aka native americans, erroneously dubbed as "Indians," by that original founding barbarian, Columbus, and his band of merry, pox and lice-infested, men.

But, without any further ado or conscious intention of hi-jacking this thread, I suppose I'll just have to swallow my angst and assume the prostrated position of joining the rest of this christian-judeo "Manifest Destiny" charge on their "Highway To Hell," seeing as no one in the christian world can afford that move.

This is true, David, and where there's smoke, there's always fire[power], WMD's, and the cobblestone road back to the NYC and the London Stock Exchanges.
