Let's see the 911 directive.

If there was such a stand down it could have been related to those exercises. And those exercises could have provided cover and been part of the over all conspiracy.

I don't believe AQ did it or had inside knowledge of this or got lucky.

Too much circumstantial evidence here so far, but it does raise questions.

CD asks "Who prevented untainted post mortem examinations of the victims?" He might well have also asked who prevented the post-failure forensic examination of the steel beams? Where is the NTSB researched (required by law)?

Jeffrey asks for evidence of the stand-down order in re: "stand down". A Google search using the term 9/11 stand-down for air defenses reveals many choices, of which THIS ONE DISCUSSES RUMSFELD'S ORDER, and this one is a solid discussion. I am surprised that Mr. Orling is not aware of these, but perhaps he is pre-signalling his rejection of their theses. Perhaps he is unaware of the intertwined relationship of Rumsfeld and Cheney that goes back to their cover-up of the Frank Olson death, the similarities in their views on "strong executive" form of government, their involvement (even as private citizens) in "continuity of government" activities, the roles of COG within 9/11 as noted by Peter Dale Scott, the issue of the "Doomsday"plane as noted by Mark Gaffney in article form and book, the involvement of key Zionist folk as well as that of Israeli companies, etc.

To further muddy the waters (eventually the mud settles in layered sediment and can be read withy forensic geology), I stumbled across this small series of YouTube videos recently:
