FAA to Propose New Rules For Small Drones in Nation's Skies

The Federal Aviation Administration plans to propose new rules for the use of small drones in January, a first step toward clearing the way for police departments, farmers and others to employ the technology.

Drone aircraft, best known for their role in hunting and destroying terrorist hide-outs in Afghanistan, may soon be coming to the skies near you.

Police agencies want drones for air support to spot runaway criminals. Utility companies believe they can help monitor oil, gas and water pipelines. Farmers think drones could aid in spraying their crops with pesticides.

"It's going to happen," said Dan Elwell, vice president of civil aviation at the Aerospace Industries Assn. "Now it's about figuring out how to safely assimilate the technology into national airspace."

That's the job of the Federal Aviation Administration, which plans to propose new rules for the use of small drones in January, a first step toward integrating robotic aircraft into the nation's skyways.

Timing, Timing....it all in the timing......just after it was used in Poland during a demonstration and the first was to be used in NYC and one the West Coast during Occupy Movement events [big ones, at that!]. Anything to defeat the greatest threat to 'Western [sic] Civilization ever - the Occupy Wall Street Movement.angryfire

Peter, that seems like such a huge leap between cause & effect as to appear to have been auto-piloted. :plane:

The timing issue goes out the window in a hurry because UAV's have been in development & existence as war weapons for a long time, the militarization of the police for a few decades, & their slow transition into the use of UAV's for domestic purposes has for about a year, perhaps two. In the interim, actual surveillance technologies in the urban civilian sector are present & functional. Finally, the drone movement in the military has been and continues to be focused on pinpoint destruction of specific targets. For a greater grasp, see the http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TZMl-eYiH...r_embedded USAF Air Force Recruitment Commercial.

The OWS, however, is essentially two things; while it manifests in a crowd with some movement, direction and coordination, it is essentially made up of a great number of sentient beings in a kind of pointillistic dance that may possibly mimic the flocking of starlings but within which each an individual mind exists and functions.

While the evilarchy is hard at work inventing new ways for crowd control [I highly recommend Nick Begich's recent five-part YouTube series entitled "HAARP, Secret Sciences & High Tech Mind Control"], I doubt seriously that domestic use of drones is sufficiently advanced to do more than act as more mobile, flexible blimps.

If the evilarchy is moving to arm those domestic drones with anything other than a camera and a receiving radio, the OSW is a moot point.

We all saw the Polish use of a drone to do surveillance of the police lines and general lay of the land during a demonstration. I know for a fact that a helicopter drone was / is being outfitted with camera and wifi antenna as we write for someone I could name - who livestreams for the OWS Movement. Others are in production for big actions planned shortly. They always were only to be able to give a view of events on the ground - NOT to do anything else. That the FAA [or others behind this] think they want the airspace and surveillance to ONLY be in the hands of the government is just one more chilling step toward total control, i.e. a Police State. Rest assured that the 'new rules' will NOT apply to the Police, HS, FBI, CIA, NSA, other such, nor the military - ONLY private citizens! Spitballs will soon be outlawed too and anyone throwing or spitting one at the 'wrong' person will be up on unPatriot Act charges.

Several like this on internet.....all apparently to be illegal in a month or two in USA for a private citizen.

Quote:Scotland Yard ready to use radio controlled 'eyes in the sky' to boost surveillance

Unmanned drones equipped with surveillance cameras will be flown across the skies of London during next year's Olympic Games, The Independent has learnt.
It is understood that the Metropolitan Police has taken part in discussions with the Civil Aviation Authority over whether they can use small radio controlled devices in heavily built-up areas, as part of efforts to increase their number of "eyes in the sky".
Next year's Olympics will be the largest security operation the Met has ever had to run, as tens of thousands of athletes and millions of spectators flock to the games in Stratford.
The force's Air Support Unit already has three Eurocopter EC145 helicopters based at Lippitts Hill in Loughton, Essex. The aircraft are fitted with an array of high definition cameras and thermal imaging equipment, but officers believe small drones will give them the extra capacity to monitor multiple major events if needed.

'They' can have and use them; 'we' will not be able to soon.....the usual.....top-down domination paradigm bullshit. This drone looks like it is made by the same company as the one I posted above it.

Yes, of course, "power" will seek to develop new and better means of power-application, such as surveillance drones. Did we think we can wish it away? If we get angry at the little devils in the sky, do you think it will somehow turn itself around? If we get our underwear in a twist about the folks at DARPA (and elsewhere) or their free use of free money (derived from laundering it, or printing it), do you think they will suddenly see the Light?

Is it possible to out-think, out-strategize, and otherwise put ourselves beyond the reach of their technologies with attitude, spirit, organization and more?

Well, it is not exactly a secret, but just not to publicize it further, I won't mention name, but one person is planning on using one shortly to get overhead views of OWS actions of Police and protesters. Let's see what happens........ Incident will probably be used by FAA to bolster their 'case' against their use by the Public in January. Small steerable planes and helicopters have actually been used by hobbyists for many years...but now that they can have cameras and broadcast the images, the government is upset.....they thought intelligence was their private privilege.
