David Sanchez Morales is the dark-skinned man depicted in the two photos below, taken in Viet Nam.
Is the very tall man Robert Trumbull Crowley?
What have we here?
El Indio y El Cuervo?

If an individual, through either his own volition or events over which he had no control, found himself taking up residence in a country undefined by flags or physical borders, he could be assured of one immediate and abiding consequence: He was on his own, and solitude and loneliness would probably be his companions unto the grave.

You can't blame the innocent, they are always guiltless. All you can do is control them or eliminate them. Innocence is a kind of insanity.

How confident are you and Steve Rosen in your Grieves ID? The guy under scrutiny seems older -- but then again, it could be a later photograph. Plus he doesn't seem as tall, but that's purely a subjective judgment.
Do you have a photo of Crowley from that period available for comparison?
Thanks very much,
Charles

Steve and I are pretty confident it is the same man and not just from the picture. However, you know how these things go with photographs. Morales was 5'10" so one can try to base the other's height off that.
I do not have an image of Crowley, although it is not from a lack of looking. I think he wrote some books, and his picture may well be in one of the books - but surely not from the time period we would want. Just a thought.
Until then, I'll note what I see -- albeit with an untrained eye -- as height and age differences (heavy jowls on "Grieves" only) between the two images.
And unlike the tall character depicted with Morales, "Grieves" presents not with a totally bald pate, but with male pattern baldness (nothing on top, hair on the sides).
Not that these differences couldn't be explained away, I might add.
Please keep me up to date on anything you may find to clear up this matter.
Best,
Charles
