It's such a shame Jack passed. I actually had a good little communique with him when he was last active in the period of 2009-2010.
He later forgot who I was an so forth and grew a little belligerent towards me. However, I hold no ill will at all, he always had my respect and I knew he was not doing so well. So sorry CD, Dawn, GB, PL, Mags and all of you who had way closer dealings with him than I. Of all the stuff he did his work on 'Badgeman' the different Oswald's with John Armstrong was thought provoking, while his work on the Roscoe White stuff was very compelling. I am sure you all have a list of other interesting aspects to his work, those were just a smattering of my faves.

I hope his family can get a look at the tributes on all manner of forums to him across the net. Not to mention his wife Sue. I think one of the great debates Jack was part of was his taking on JF over JVB on the Ed Forum, that was brilliant. Jack White was also part of the researchers which got me into this whole thing back in 1991 when I saw the first TMWKK. Yes folks he's partly responsible for me being here lol.

So long Mr White and my feelings go out once again to his friends and family.

I am filled with a deep sadness even if I had only occasional contact with Jack and we had our differences in views. I will remember him as someone with great common sense (which is not so common anyway these days), a sharp eye and a voice always prepared to speak the truth as he saw it.
My deep condolences to his family and all who knew him. May his work be preserved and his name held up high.

While it is true that the JFKresearch Assassination Forum was Rich DellaRosa's brainchild it was Jack White's work that inspired its creation. I first contacted Jack in about 1988 as he had
been a consultant for the HSCA a decade earlier. He very graciously replied to my letter and was quite helpful. After seeing his work on The Men Who Killed Kennedy in the early 90's I called
him on the telephone. We remained in contact from that day on. In about 1997 he told me that his friend, Rich DellaRosa, was launching a forum and that he [Jack] would recommend my
admission to Rich. Back then Rich was very protective of his site due to all of the disruptive behavior that was rampant on the newsgroups. There were perhaps a half dozen founding members
in all. Between Rich's dedication to providing a venue capable of encouraging research and Jack's keen ability to demonstrate his ideas graphically the forum flourished for 13 years.

I first met Jack in person at the Lancer NID conference in 2000. He introduced me to Jim Marrs and a few others as, "Gerald Posner's brother" -- just for shock value. It was quite hysterical. The
last time we got together was in 2010. After I spoke at the COPA conference my wife and I visited with him and Sue at there home in Fort Worth. We went out for a nice lunch and then Jack
took us on a driving and walking tour of Fort Worth of which he is quite an expert. Each place we went he would pull EXTREMELY slowly into the parking space and inch up to the guard pole at
the front of the parking spot...inch by slow inch he would go...until... we'd hear the "click" of the front bumper just barely making contact with the pole. It was completely safe and at once quite
amusing, as well.

There are too many war stories and such to go into here. Suffice to say, I will miss him, the research community will miss him, and his legacy will live on...

Unlike many here, I did not know Jack and never met him; I have a distant but solid idea of the nature, quality and impact of his work that most here know in depth. I hold him in high respect. But I "know" him on the basis of his comments and posts since I have been here at DPF... sparse and spartan, perhaps, based on his declining health or perhaps a greater wisdom not to say anything he wasn't deeply informed about. And it is that promise -- the nature and quality of the posts on non-JFK topics and threads -- that will be missed by me.

You are eternal, Jack.

Thanks for those links Peter and Greg. Our dear Jack may be gone to god but he does leave behind a wonderful body of work and not just of JFK matters. I know that much of it is at one of the universities in Texas and I am sure there is a link for it some where here on the forum. However, I also encourage any one to down load any of his images you may find around the net and re post them here as some web sites and forums disappear. Since Jack is no longer around to maintain his presence on the web I would like it if we all make sure his work remains available for as many people as possible.

Jack D. White, 85, passed away Monday, June 18, 2012. Funeral: 3:30 p.m. Thursday in Mount Olivet Chapel. Interment: Mount Olivet Cemetery. Visitation: 2:30 p.m. Thursday at Mount Olivet Funeral Home. Memorials: Those desiring to honor Jack's memory may contribute to a TCU Journalism Department scholarship fund or a charity of choice.
Jack was born Jan. 17, 1927, in San Angelo, moving to Fort Worth with his parents, John Nathan White and Billie Lorena Dumas White, shortly after his birth. Graduating from Carter-Riverside High School in 1944, he worked briefly for the Fort Worth Press covering high school sports under the legendary sports editor H.H. "Pop" Boone. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy during World War II and while serving attended Stanford University in the ROTC program. Discharged in 1946, Jack entered Texas Christian University, graduating in 1949 with a B.A. in journalism and began an advertising career as copywriter and art director at Yates Advertising Agency.

In 1954, he joined Witherspoon and Ridings Public Relations Agency, which later became Witherspoon and Associates, as the firm's first art director. During his 27 years with the agency he rose to vice president, executive art director, personnel manager and part owner. He specialized in design and photography. Although he had photographed the city since the 1950s, he began collecting Fort Worth photographs seriously in 1972 when Witherspoon was planning the 100th anniversary for one of its clients and he was in charge of acquiring copies of historical prints of Fort Worth. After the event he took care to preserve all the exhibit materials and during the next 20 years he reproduced other client's historical photographs and took hundreds of pictures to add to the collection.

Jack retired from Witherspoon in 1981 and formed his own company, Jack White Enterprises, specializing in free-lance art and photography. Taking two new partners in 1984, the firm's name changed to VJS Companies. In 1991, he again became a sole proprietor. Because of his interest in Fort Worth history, he spearheaded a group of local historians and launched an internet website, which he named "The Way We Were," to display and research old photos of the city.

Another of Jack's interest has been the study of the John F. Kennedy assassination, serving as a photographic consultant to the U.S. Senate Select Committee on Assassinations during its hearings, as well a consultant on the JFK film. He produced two videotapes on his photographic studies of the assassination and developed a slide lecture, while contributing his research to books and professional journals. Jack's collection of JFK assassination books and materials and his old Fort Worth photographs have been donated to UTA Library's Special Collections where they are accessible to those interested.

Jack married the former Sue Benningfield in 1969 and in 1977 they were instrumental in reactivating their neighborhood home owners association. He served as president for several years. He painted many works of art which hang in private collections and adorn the walls of his modern home, as well as a large painting of the Fort Worth skyline on display at the Fort Worth Public Library. He was an avid TCU alumnus and until last year had not missed a home football or basketball game since 1946. He enjoyed yard work and raising tomatoes, which he happily supplied his friends.

Survivors: Wife, Sue; cousins, Pat O'Neal of Fort Worth, Laura O'Neal Tauzel of Arlington, Larry O'Neal of Fort Worth, Nancy Robbins of Denton and Shirley Hurley of Haltom City; and a host of wonderful friends.
