Many people don't know that there was a lead car in JFK's motorcade. I really didn't think about it until I came across thie photograph of Clint Hill climbing on the back of the limo with the lead car in the foreground. In the motorcade, the pilot car travelled 5-6 blocks ahead of the motocade. Then there were the police motorcyclists. Then the lead car which was 4-5 car lengths ahead of the president. The lead car was supposed to be the press car but was changed at the last minute. In Win Lawson't 2003 C-span interview he states twice that it was unprecedented to have secret service and police in the same car.

Win Lawson is the secret service agent who sat in the front seat driver's side in the lead car. He testified at the Warren Commission. Allen Dulles asked him if the limo passed the lead car and Win Lawson said no it had not. You can see from the attached photo that that statement is false.
Why is the lead car left out of so many pictures? In the Zapruder film it seems logical you would see the lead car first but it is cut out of the film. At the end of the film you see the back of the car briefly. On a movie film once I remember seeing the car from a distance turn down Elm Street. Then there's the 2 photos below of the lead car. Otherwise thel lead car is not seen.
In my previous post I talked about Police Chief Curry, Forest Sorrels, and Sheriff Bill Decker.
Curry's testimony: http://www.jfk-assassination.de/warren/wch/vol12/page28.php
Decker's testimony: http://www.jfk-assassination.de/warren/wch/vol12/page42.php
Sorrell's testimony: http://www.jfk-assassination.de/warren/wch/vol7/page345.php
Win Lawson: http://www.jfk-assassination.de/warren/wch/vol4/page317.php
Dallas Police Chief Jesse Curry was the driver of the lead car.
Dallas County Sheriff Bill Dekcer sat in the rear seat drivers side seat in the lead car.
Secret Service Agent stationed in Dallas Forrest Sorrels sat in the rear seat passenger side.
