POLICE ignored a suggestion that John "Goldfinger" Palmer, the murdered gangster, may have been shot.
Palmer, 64, died in the garden of his home near Brentwood, Essex, last June. Police and ambulance staff found injuries to his chest and back but his death was blamed on complications from gall bladder surgery.
An internal report by the East of England ambulance service, obtained under the Freedom of Information Act, reveals that paramedics found a "substantial blood trail" and "large amounts of blood" around the top of Palmer's shirt. A student paramedic observed that the injuries were a "bit unusual and could have been gunshots". Other ambulance staff dismissed this as an "off-the-cuff remark" and the death was recorded as "non-suspicious" until six bullet wounds were found during a post-mortem examination six days later.
Both Essex police and the East of England ambulance service are investigating their handling of the case.
Etc.
Maths study shows conspiracies 'prone to unravelling' - http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/science-environment-35411684
It's difficult to keep a conspiracy under wraps, scientists say, because sooner or later, one of the conspirators will blow its cover.
A study has examined how long alleged conspiracies could "survive" before being revealed - deliberately or unwittingly - to the public at large.
Dr David Grimes, from Oxford University, devised an equation to express this, and then applied it to four famous collusions.
The work appears in Plos One journal.
Martin Luther King - "Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere."
Albert Camus - "The only way to deal with an unfree world is to become so absolutely free that your very existence is an act of rebellion".
Douglas MacArthur — "Whoever said the pen is mightier than the sword obviously never encountered automatic weapons."
Albert Camus - "Nothing is more despicable than respect based on fear."
