Good for Bruce Willis; hadn't read that quote before. I've been disappointed in Stephen King since he wrote that book, because I think he is an intelligent and insightful writer about the human condition, though he hides it behind "horror stories" so that a lot of "serious critics" don't give him a chance.
As for Tom Hanks, he is a very good actor, but in the last 20 years or so he's participated in a lot of myth-making about American history. His perspective might be called "liberal nationalism," much like Chris Matthews.
