Another reason for exponential rate is the increase in CH3 from permafrost melting -- a positive feedback loop. Also CH3 has been found to leek at previously unknown rates from natural gas wells. Undersea CH3 is frozen at the bottom of the ocean and is showing signs of melting.
I think we are past a tipping point and the positive feedback loops have kicked in.
One more thing, we are much closer to the first blue water even in the arctic -- the time when the north pole is liquid water.
