Per the article Tippit "suddenly hears his police radio crackle to life" and "moves out in a big hurry" to investigate "a reported fight and possible stabbing at the corner of 10th & Marsalis."
I can't find a reference to this fight (or one at 12th & Marsalis) in any of the radio transcripts, and the Drenas article has this:
