After having read the excerpt from Summers' book, I wonder about a few things:
-Why does Summers almost casually mention the Saudi exodus on September 13 and 14, yet never mentions the fact that all American airspace was shut down for a week after 9/11? Why were they, of all people the only ones allowed to leave?
-How is it that Richard Clarke was given sole discretion to allow the Saudis to leave? And with no official authorization besides his own? Somehow, that doesn't sound right to me.
-Why does he insert Iran in this narrative, despite the fact that Iran and Saudi Arabia represent Shi'ite (Iran) and Sunni (Saudi Arabia) Muslim sects that have been warring with each other for years? That's like stating that the Crips and Bloods teamed up with each other to destroy Los Angeles. Utterly ridiculous, is what it is.
-And finally, as stated above, why does he assert that "no hard evidence would emerge that Pakistan had any foreknowledge of the 9/11 attacks", when the official record clearly states otherwise?
Just a few things I wonder about...that and whose side Mr. Summers is really on.
