Oswald the patsy..
#3
What only a precious few people, John Armstrong and John Newman being among them, have touched on is what Lee Harvey Oswald was. Not who he was, although Armstrong lays out a great case for Oswald being much more than the sum of his parts, but what he was. As in, who was he working for, for what purposes, and how did his employer/employers manage to have him in Dallas, at the Book Depository, on that particular day.

My personal belief is that Oswald was a CIA agent and also an FBI informant working out of the New Orleans FBI office. Notice that I said CIA agent, not a mere "contract" employee. My reasons for that belief are as follows:

1) Oswald's fluent command of the Russian language. As Jim Garrison said, the only reason that Oswald would have been taught Russian at El Toro AFB wold bbe for intelligence purposes. And as John Armstrong and others have noted, he was very well versed in conversational Russian, which suggests that he was first taught Russian far earlier than when he came into the Marines.

2) The timing of Oswald's "defection" to the Soviet Union and the U-2 incident with Francis Gary Powers in 1960. When Oswald was in the Marines, he worked at Atsugi, Japan where they regularly flew U-2 missions. The fact that he worked in the radar department would have come in handy if he were to have given the Soviets details on exactly when a particular mission or missions would have been flown and possibly where they would have flown.

3) The fact that when he came back to the US in 1962, he wasn't debriefed so far as we know of, was given $300, and basically told to go his merry way. Remember, $300 was a pretty hefty sum of money in 1962. The fact that he wasn't debriefed, even though his Soviet bride was the niece of a KGB officer, suggests that since he was already sending periodic reports back to America, there was no need for a debriefing.

4) The fact that after his infamous "brawl" with Carlos Bringuer in New Orleans in the summer of 1963, the first person he asked for in jail was an FBI agent. Now, if Oswald were indeed a rabid Communist, as the mass media has continued to portray him to this very day, why in the hell would he ask for a member of the most rabidly anti-communist law enforcement agency in the country to talk to him in jail? That's like a Black Panther asking to see a Klansman in jail and asking him to bail him out.

5) The fact that he had a Minox camera in his possession at the time of the assassination. It was A) prohibitively expensive for a person of his limited means to afford without outside help, and B) the FBI promptly attempted to make this camera disappear (with the help of the Paines, who were connected to intelligence themselves), probably because they realized its significance.

Those are just five facts that strongly point to Oswald being an actual intelligence officer, not just a contract agent, and also point to the fact that he was working for the FBI on the side. That's why the FBI found his name at such an early time in the investigation, if you can call it that, and also why they and the CIA worked so hard to destroy evidence and put distance between themselves and Oswald. When you understand who Lee Harvey Oswald was really working for, you are a significant step closer to understanding who killed JFK, and why.

Just my two cents Smile
