Quote:from Nugan Hand backwards there is a ot of history to protect
Ah. A dim light possibly begins to dawn. Prior to the US involvement in Vietnam/Indochina, the French were active there and in particular French intelligence were beneficiaries of the Opium trade and this trade, in fact, completely financed their IndoChina activities. Then 1954 and enter the USA. The same deal was struck by Lansdale with the various opium clans and this eventually led to the so called “Long Silver Train” of dead soldiers in caskets who’s insides were eviscerated and replaced with No. 4 Chinese white heroin for shipment back to the USA, per William Colby then head of the CIA.
But a few years earlier than that, a pesky President decided to withdraw US forces from that theatre and with that he upset all sorts of people who had grown accustomed to a fat life courtesy of white powder - plus the industrial complex who were looking for a war to eat vast quantities of materiel to make them fat and happy too.
Is this a reasonable summation James, of the history that needed protecting?
The shadow is a moral problem that challenges the whole ego-personality, for no one can become conscious of the shadow without considerable moral effort. To become conscious of it involves recognizing the dark aspects of the personality as present and real. This act is the essential condition for any kind of self-knowledge.
