Anno 1998 wollte der erwerbstüchtige Mann dem trauernden Mohammed Al-Fayed für 190 Mio. Schilling vier CIA-Dokumente veräußern, die das Mordkomplott gegen Sohn Dodi und Lady Di beweisen sollten. Eine plumpe Fälschung, konterte die CIA und ließ Le Winter bei der Übergabe festsetzen: zwei Jahre Haft auf der Wilhelmshöhe zu Pressbaum bei Wien wegen versuchten schweren Betrugs.

My translation:
In 1998 the man who knew how to make a buck wanted to sell four CIA documents to the grieving Mohammed Al-Fayed for 190 Million Schillings. These documents should prove the murder conspiracy against [Fayed's] son Dodi and Lady Di. A crude fake, the CIA countered, and had Lewinter arrested at the handover: Two years of imprisonment at the Wilhelmshöhe at Pressbaum near Vienna because of attempted serious fraud.

Two years is a very short sentence [more so in a sanitarium, not a prison] for trying to sell allegedly fake CIA documents - and in such a high-profile case. Someone with LeWinter's odd connections could likely have gotten some real ones as easy as fake ones - or fakes that no one could really tell were not real. The whole episode has too many things that don't sound 'right' about it. Did someone send LeWinter to do this, or is he rogue? All very strange...along with his other 'exploits'.
