I seem to recall a discusion about the Chicago "attempt" being a fake to draw attention away from Dallas and a real assassination attempt. Maybe so, but I am not convinced. And, some similarities between a couple of "patsies", to me, indicate a possible attempt that failed to occur and that led to Dallas on 11/22/63. JMO.
