Jan, you say this and it is spot on:

There is no need for a false flag atrocity to be designed to provoke a war.

The entire Strategia Della Tensione of Gladio and its successors is based on false flag atrocities.

Several things:

1) All threed of JO's examples, Khobar towers, USS Cole, and the Nairobi Embassy, deserve to be analyzed through the lends of deep politics. As I understand it, deep political analysis does not presume that all terrorist events are not blow back. The discipline presumes that all terrorist events should be analyzed through the lens of deep politics. The Khobar towers, for example, was used by the Saudis to blame Iran while at the same time the FBI was refused access to key evidence. Their investigation was nearly useless.

2) As Jan said, the provoking of war is not the only use of false flag ops. Terror events can be their own end. For example, a series of terror attacks without any particular reason can be used to establish the existence of "international terror." And of course, "international terror" can eventually come to reside in the "homeland." This invites many responses. One of them is to shape and control of the minds of the citizenry. "We are not safe. The government is doing what is necessary to make us safe."

3) Jan said this:

Reminds me of a story I just made up.

Uncle Buck came to visit announced one day.

"How ya'll doin'. Time for your 'ol Uncle Buck check to for his annual visit."

Actually, it was more like his bi-annual visit, but he was in no shape to tell the difference. We took him to the spare bedroom where he threw his bags.

"Where's a good place for a fella to wet his whistle." He knew where that place was. The refrigerator.

"Oh, by the way. Ya'll gotta meet Junior." I guess that meant Buck Junior. Since his wife and kids wouldn't talk to him anymore, I knew that "Junior" was some new addition. Junior turned out to be a St. Bernard.

"He's just a big 'ol goof. Say, hello Junior."

On cue, the big 'ol goof ran up me, and with both paws on my shoulders, gave me his best slobbery greeting. He also "greeted" me by peeing on my legs and shitting the carpet.

Question: Even though Buck and Junior are friendly, why should I have let them stay and continue to trash my house? Buck had no respect for me and did not intend to change his ways. He liked the way he was and he thought I should too. But if I didn't, well, that's OK too. He could just go to the fridge and get another beer.
