It's irritating how many people in the political world only care about history to the extent that it fits into their partisan political agenda. MSNBC exploited the assassination by linking it to the gun control issue (Maddow and Sharpton both did this). Otherwise, it's not politically useful for anything else. A conspiracy would certainly upset a lot of cherished delusions.
The new book "JFK, CONSERVATIVE" is another example. Cherry-pick the historical record to make the Limbaugh/Fox crowd happy. One could just as easily do the same thing with Reagan's political career and statements, and write a book called "REAGAN, LIBERAL." It doesn't get us any closer to the truth, though.
