Right, and how could LBJ have been so careless as to use his pal DH Byrd to arrange for the convenient employ of the assassin/patsy? Or to interfere directly on a moment by moment basis from a nearby hotel room with the trial of Mac Wallace, through Johnson's attorney Ed Clark? Or to arrange for criminal crony Bobby Baker to the position of US Senate Secretary? Or to arrange for his partner in crime Billie Sol Estes to influence cotton prices through the Department of Agriculture? Or to demand kickbacks in radio advertising airtime in exchange for the prestige of selling the Vice President an insurance policy? Or a stereo for his wife? Or a $100,000 kickback for Johnson's part in procuring the TFX contract?
Johnson's list of brazen offenses is wide and deep. I'm happy Mellen is looking into LBJ, but she needs to avoid gratuitous collateral damage. From reading her speech, (and other related speeches and publications on this topic) it would appear that she's merely repeating what an anonymous source tells her about the contents of an unavailable file.
