One more side note. I once asked Fletch if there was anybody that he knew who was close to the "High Cabal" -- IOW: Since, by definition,
the actual High Cabal is anonymous (un-knowable), it is also therefore, unspeakable, i.e., unnamable. So he obviously can't know who they
are. However, is there anyone that seems to be close to them due to the manner in which such an individual influences/persuades those who
appear to wield the power (government leaders, etc.), yet are never themselves accountable, never themselves apparent beneficiaries of their
influence, yet are always in the middle of the deepest levels of action.
He said, "Yes. Averell Harriman was close to them." He told me this about 10 years after Harriman's death (1986). I asked if there was anyone
who is still alive that fits the bill? He said, "Yes. Watch former Secretary of Education William Bennett. If gambling doesn't kill his chances, he
could rise to the top."
We shall see.
