I have to disagree with that statement on two counts. First, Kennedy did not intensify the conflict in Vietnam. Initially, he inherited it. Later, he ordered its cessation. Second, JFK was not a flaming liberal. Even in 1963 he was a moderate. However, by today's standards, he would probably be the most conservative democratic president (by comparison) that we've ever seen.
