Hello! New member introduction
#1
First off I want to say thanks to this community, I first stumbled across here a year ago and it was instrumental in waking me up.

I am in my 20's, a recent University graduate in history who has been spending his time over the last year researching the depths of all of the topics discussed in this forum.

My personal favorite topic is Mind Control, I have studied the primary documents of MK-ULTRA extensively and have been trying to prepare a thesis on trauma-based mind control.

I am a moderator of a very large conspiracy community but one which tends to have a hive-mind of views and isn't too interested in formal research so I think it would be nice to begin participating here as well.

Thanks for having me!

Welcome, Timothy. Hope this is a good place for you and looking forward to hearing what you have to say.

I have a few questions and please forgive my forwardness, but I find it intriguing that somebody in his '20's would have tuned in so early to deep politics. It took me until my '60's and it wasn't easy.

Did you have a community of like-minded friends in college or were you on your own? A 'very large conspiracy community' with a 'hive mind' -- oh please share! In preparing a thesis, are you in a graduate program? Enough for now. Thanks.

So glad to have you here, Timothy, we so need young people who are interested and aware. Welcome!

Thanks for the welcome!

It all began within weeks of earning my bachelors degree, when I came across the work of David McGowan while just casually browsing the internet. I immediately read everything he had written (at least that I am aware of) in a relatively short period of time. Searching for more information on the Dutroux affair led me to ISGP, and searching for more information on Deep Politics led me to here and Peter Dale Scott. I've branched out considerably in my research since then, and, well, here I am.

I didn't have a community of like-minded individuals at the time, my hobbies were NFL, Dungeons and Dragons and beer. That being said, I have made some very good friends recently, many in their 20's as well, who are at similar levels of comprehension. We are at a good stage in our lives to dedicate a lot of time and energy towards exposing the truth. I myself am currently teaching English in a foreign country while I do research and writing and figure out the next step.

The 'very large conspiracy community' is the conspiracy page of reddit.com, are you familiar? The website itself is huge, about 6% of American adults use it. The way the website works is that people subscribe to any number of topics to appear on one page of link aggregation, so what ends up happening is that people with no knowledge of conspiracies subscribe out of curiosity, and many people who are antagonistic subscribe to mock the community. Overall it is not very conducive to the type of discourse I have found here. Reading the JTRIG leak by Snowden and Greenwald, I could relate many of the tactics to what happens on the board.

That being said, there is a fantastic group of core contributors and it is a great opportunity to put important information into the news streams of tens of thousands of people.

RE: reddit. Can you subscribe or be alerted when a particular user posts? Mind sending me an IM of people you like the best? Furthermore, invite some of your reddit pals to come on over if you like.

One disadvantage/advantage of DPF is that real names are required. A lot of people do not want to use real names, although pseudonyms are a possibility if requested and approved. We have many more guests than members reading the threads.

One thing that intrigues me is what it takes for a person to take the "red pill" so to speak. (I assume you have watched The Matrix.) It took me most of my life, and I am an exception here at DPF as far as I can tell.

I just went over Reddit>Conspiracy>What turned you into a conspiracy theorist? What a treat. There were many posts about people who went to Israel and then into the West Bank and were shocked awake for the first time.

But I liked this one:
Quote:Someone sent me the James Holmes documentary about the Aurora shooting and I reluctantly watched it and found it somewhat compelling. After that, I was like, "what's the harm. I'm going to look into what these 9/11 truthers are talking about." I remember finishing loose change and searching for debunking sites because I did not want to consider the possibility that that movie could be believed. Then I looked at the counter debunking and back and forth. I still remember that moment and how disappointed I was in myself. First, for becoming a "truther." And then, for allowing myself to be duped.
Ultimately, it was the best thing to ever happen to me because it set me off on this quest to understand why and how we got here. I started looking into the hidden history of this world and I have been engaged, entertained, and educated in a way I never had been. I got into the trivium, activism, and propaganda has little to no affect on me.
No regrets.

I would also like to add my welcome too, Timothy.
The shadow is a moral problem that challenges the whole ego-personality, for no one can become conscious of the shadow without considerable moral effort. To become conscious of it involves recognizing the dark aspects of the personality as present and real. This act is the essential condition for any kind of self-knowledge.

I will be sure to talk about this forum and direct people here. Occasionally someone will link to a thread here and I always comment that the quality of discussion is very high and the information goes very deep. Regarding quality contributors, I think I can point you in the right direction, I will send you a message soon.

Thinking more about the 'red pill', I realize there was a long series of events leading to me waking up, zeitgeist movie, voting for Barack Obama only to see a very reactionary administration, watching some 9/11 documentaries. I remained a skeptic through that but it certainly provided the basis and context for taking the red pill later.

Also, yes! I remember that reddit thread. This particular comment (http://www.reddit.com/r/conspiracy/comme...cy/cd6kofo) , about apartheid in Jerusalem, was seen by over 100,000 people. That is one of the best parts of the community, being able to (occasionally) get significant exposure for these ideas.

Thanks for the welcome, Marlene!

And you too, David! I actually just finished reading some of your essays a couple days ago, such as Aum Shirinkyo. Very informative!

Blimey Timothy, I'd completely forgotten I'd written that. :Confusedhock::
