Guy Banister was promoted to SAC in Chicago. That would seem to be a top post, hand-picked by the boss. Is there a book that explores the relation between Hoover and Banister?
That seems an important line of inquiry. It raises a lot of questions.

A very similar road that Bill Harvey took. The meetings, if true, by Banister with Rosselli, Trafficante and E.H. Hunt (at various times) makes conspiracy complete. Too much overlap.

Banister had a long history with the FBI. He was in on the Dillinger case. Hoover would not pick just anybody to be SAC for Chicago. It was important. It was the second largest city in the US. They had to know each other. Banister had a history with the FBI. Then after his retirement, did he just lose contact with his old colleagues?
FBI men tended to be very loyal to J. Edgar. It's an interesting connection I haven't read much about.

It is a very important connection, but unfortunately we just don't have any information about it. I've read several books on Hoover, and Banister rarely (if ever) turns up in the story.
