The killer of 5 at the Ft Lauderdale Airport today, Esteban Santiago, reportedly went to the Anchorage Alaska FBI office 2 months ago to complain he was being forced to watch Isis videos by the government. Anchorage FBI took him to a mental hospital.

Bizarre shooting. Guy had his gun in his luggage....flew from AL and when he picked up his luggage went to bathroom and assembled gun and clips, came out shooting and after shooting lay down on the floor waiting to be arrested. Press and 'officials' say they can not see any motive. He had his military ID on him. Didn't resist arrest. Sounds to me at first blush he might be a well oiled mind-controlled shooter.

Same behavior as Mark David Chapman only this guy went to the FBI 2 months earlier to claim his mind was being programmed to watch Isis videos etc...

"We have not talked for the past three weeks," Bryan Santiago said. "That's a bit unusual ... I'm in shock. He was a serious person ... He was a normal person."

Santiago told the F.B.I. he thought he was being mind controlled, possibly by the U.S. government or the C.I.A. and admitted hearing voices, which Santiago said told him to study "extremist materials on the Internet," the New York Times reports.
Despite the fact that Santiago himself, his girlfriend, and even co-workers warned authorities of his experiences the F.B.I. failed to detain him before his travels to Florida.
"Records show Santiago had three driver's licenses from Alaska, New York and Puerto Rico," along with his military I.D., which were all on his person during Friday's shooting, as reported by a local ABC news affiliate.
Just like a Manchurian candidate, Santiago "walked to the baggage claim area, where witnesses said he pulled the trigger and appeared to be aiming at victims' heads. Witnesses said Santiago didn't say a word. He shot his weapon until he ran out of ammunition. He threw the gun down and laid spread-eagle on the ground until a Broward Sheriffs' Office deputy came up to him."

Yet the troubling episode is now part of an emerging profile of a deeply disturbed man described by his aunt Friday as someone who had "lost his mind."
Maria Luisa Ruiz of Union City, N.J., said her nephew, who had moved to Alaska for work as a security guard, only recently began to show signs of instability.
"Like a month ago, it was like he lost his mind," she said "He said he saw things."

Additionally, it is also important to note that Former White House Press Secretary Ari Fleischer was present at the airport during the shooting and was live-tweeting details about the situation.

I don't think your logic is astray, the USA is insane when it comes to guns.....read and weep. These are the TSA guidelines; different airlines have slightly different rules...but essentially it is just fine if unloaded and declared. His gun was transported unloaded and declared [i.e., legally]. He went into the bathroom in the same room as the baggage return, loaded his gun and started shooting/killing.::bigguns:: Don't try this is most of the rest of the Planet. They really don't like bazookas nor mortars, but you can bring any number of damn big and powerful sidearms and longarms, even fully automatic weapons in most states - not all.

You may transport unloaded firearms in a locked hard-sided container as checked baggage only. Declare the firearm and/or ammunition to the airline when checking your bag at the ticket counter. The container must completely secure the firearm from being accessed. Locked cases that can be easily opened are not permitted. Firearms

• When traveling, comply with the laws concerning possession of firearms as they vary by local, state and international governments.

• Replica firearms, including firearm replicas that are toys, may be transported in checked baggage only.
  
• Rifle scopes are permitted in carry-on and checked baggage.
  

United States Code, Title 18, Part 1, Chapter 44, firearm definitions includes: any weapon (including a starter gun) which will, or is designed to, or may readily be converted to expel a projectile by the action of an explosive; the frame or receiver of any such weapon; any firearm muffler or firearm silencer; and any destructive device. As defined by 49 CFR 1540.5 a loaded firearm has a live round of ammunition, or any component thereof, in the chamber or cylinder or in a magazine inserted in the firearm.
Ammunition

• Ammunition is prohibited in carry-on baggage, but may be transported in checked baggage.
  
• Firearm magazines and ammunition clips, whether loaded or empty, must be securely boxed or included within a hard-sided case containing an unloaded firearm. Read the requirements governing the transport of ammunition in checked baggage as defined by 49 CFR 175.10 (a)(8).
  
• Small arms ammunition, including ammunition not exceeding .75 caliber and shotgun shells of any gauge, may be carried in the same hard-sided case as the firearm.
