Kamala Harris: A Study in Showboating
#21
Tulsi Gabbard finally took my advice, and she went after Harris on her AG record last night.

Huffpost followed up today.

But still no RFK! That is a really important part of this.

Tulsi Gabbard really seemed to have done her homework for the debate. None of the others "had the goods" on any opponent as did Gabbard.

That said, I don't think we don't need another Hawaii native with a non-mainstream personal background such as Ms. Gabbard. I think Obama was great for what he did, but I'm not sure he ever understood mainland USA politics or the major ethnic rivalries and conflicts, even in his "native" Chicago.

Gabbard is, however, talking turkey and talking sense about the strange and permanent war going on in Afghanistan. What the heck is that about anyway? Can we afford it? Is it worth soldiers dying there? Gabbard doesn't think so, and I am not sure myself.

Tucker Carlson talked briefly to Gabbard on his show today.

Under the clip, a commenter wrote

After listening to Tucker Carlson interview Tulsi Gabbard, I will stick to my comparison of Kamala Harris to Senator Joseph McCarthy.

The Rich and Powerful are seemingly trying to force Kamala Harris "down our throats" so to speak.

I have listened to her autobiograpy on tape and she was apparently raised during childhood as a person interested in the traditional Civil Rights organizations like the NAACP and the ACLU. These are good things in my opinion.

Having said that, she also apparently "slept her way" into a $97000 per year job while still in her 20's (not mentioned in her book). She was the girlfriend of an influential man more than twice her age and this was apparently the payoff for her (also not mentioned).

In her autobiography, IMHO there is a significant lack of personal disclosure. She began her rendition of her romantic love life when she was 45 years old and got married. But who were her "significant others" prior to that?

She also failed to even mention that her mother was a practicing Hindu and her father was a Southern Baptist. This would obviously be a "human interest" story but it wasn't mentioned. So which is she? She isn't saying or telling us the answer to that.

In her autobiography, she stated that when campaigning, a voter asked her about her personal background. She replied to the voter that she was raised to believe that discussing one's personal background would be narcissistic. This was IMHO an example of her toxic style. Actually, for a major politician TO REFUSE TO DISCUSS HER PERSONAL BACKGROUND would arguably be narcissistic, not the reverse.

Don't get me wrong. Ms. Harris IMO is not all bad. She was raised and has always practiced to follow classical Civil Rights movements like NAACP and ACLU. And she seems to be a quick thinker.

But for some reason, people like Ms. Harris, along with Bill Clinton and Barack Obama had similar backgrounds which made them acceptable to the Rich and Powerful. All three happened to have been raised by single mothers with no father in their life and the single mothers were, to some extent, counter-cultural and somewhat rebellious. And moved around a lot. (Come to think of it, that would also describe Lee Harvey Oswald). Go figure.

Does this personal history produce a person who marches to their own drummer and is willing to carry out orders for the Rich and Powerful?

The interview of Ms. Harris by Tucker Carlson was very informative. I would recommend it to any person interested in Ms. Harris, either pro or con.

And thanks to Mr. Thorne for posting it.

This is crazy.

Tucker Carlson interviews Gabbard in a fair way honing in on Harris.

On CNN, Cuomo has to attack Gabbard for not acknowledging Assad as a bloodthirsty despot before she talked about Harris.

This is why I do not watch TV. It makes you stupid.

So MSNBC and CNN are pushing their National Security State favorites for 2020.

(I assume everybody reading this knows that in 2013, the Smith-Mundt Act was repealed and now the CIA has the legal authority to publish propaganda INSIDE THE U.S. TO AMERICAN CITIZENS).

And so we have Anderson Cooper, a former CIA intern as well as Rachel Maddow, a former Rhodes Scholar and a globalist. This smacks of Operation Mockingbird to me.

Anderson Cooper tried to character-assassinate (the kooky) Marianne Williamson recently. Williamson is kind of a nutty individual, but IMHO very smart and a deep thinker.

When Anderson was defending the drug industry against criticisms by Williamson, (when confronted with the fact that drug companies advertised on his show), Anderson claimed he didn't know who advertised on his show. So therefore he wasn't "in the pocket" of the drug companies. Yeah, right!!!

So we have Marianne Williamson and Tulsi Gabbard in the "honest" category while all the others IMHO are in the "shady and/or dishonest" category based on their debate performances.

How can we get the National Security State out of our hair, meaning out of their TV News management and out of our politics and political campaigns?

It's a shock to me how many MORONS believe things would be better if the CIA and FBI picked our political leaders INSTEAD OF THE VOTERS!!!!

I don't think I'm exaggerating about that. I think it's sad but provably true.

The Russian propaganda machine that tried to influence the 2016 U.S. election is now promoting the presidential aspirations of a controversial Hawaii Democrat who earlier this month declared her intention to run for president in 2020.

An NBC News analysis of the main English-language news sites employed by Russia in its 2016 election meddling shows Rep. Tulsi Gabbard of Hawaii, who is set to make her formal announcement Saturday, has become a favorite of the sites Moscow used when it interfered in 2016.

Several experts who track websites and social media linked to the Kremlin have also seen what they believe may be the first stirrings of an upcoming Russian campaign of support for Gabbard.....

...Hawaii Rep. Tulsi Gabbard's campaign for the Democratic presidential nomination is being underwritten by some of the nation's leading Russophiles.

Donors to her campaign in the first quarter of the year included: Stephen F. Cohen, a Russian studies professor at New York University and prominent Kremlin sympathizer; Sharon Tennison, a vocal Putin supporter who nonetheless found herself detained by Russian authorities in 2016; and an employee of the Kremlin-backed broadcaster RT, who appears to have donated under the alias "Goofy Grapes."
Peter Janney's uncle was Frank Pace, chairman of General Dynamics who enlisted law partners Roswell Gilpatric and Luce's brother-in-law, Maurice "Tex" Moore, in a trade of 16 percent of Gen. Dyn. stock in exchange for Henry Crown and his Material Service Corp. of Chicago, headed by Byfield's Sherman Hotel group's Pat Hoy. The Crown family and partner Conrad Hilton next benefitted from TFX, at the time, the most costly military contract award in the history of the world. Obama was sponsored by the Crowns and Pritzkers. So was Albert Jenner Peter Janney has preferred to write of an imaginary CIA assassination of his surrogate mother, Mary Meyer, but not a word about his Uncle Frank.

I'm shocked---shocked!!!!

So the pro-Kamala faction seems to be coming forward to defend her.

IHMO the root of THE MAJOR PROBLEM we have in our political system is ENTIRELY LAID BARE in the posts above on this thread----

In my (somewhat limited) exposure to the younger generation of voters, they tend to see things in two dimensions rather than three. And we are living on a three dimensional planet in a three dimensional universe. I'm pretty sure about that.

The famous scripture on the topic is where Christ is quoted as saying "he who is not against us if for us." Mark 9:40, Luke 9:50.

So they say that "he who is not against Trump is for Trump." This thinking is often typical in the US today.

I will be forever grateful because I attended a high school where I was instructed as to how to ANALYZE BOTH SIDES OF EVERY ISSUE. Too many people today, (even people who advertize their PhD's) simply don't follow that principle of looking at multiple sides of an issue.

Thanks to the above postings, I learned that Stephen F. Cohen is married to Katrina vanden Heuvel. Both of these two are IMHO paid apologists for the "establishment" although they are admittedly more thoughtful than most people in that category.

I am not for Tulsi Gabbard for president nor am I for Kamala Harris. It's ironic that both of these people were apparently raised as Hindu's! I'm not partial to Hinduism because of the caste system. But it is weird that both of these candidates are being presented as opposite sides of one coin.

NOT!!!!

James Lateer

p.s. Why be anti-Putin and anti-Iran while being pro-Saudi Arabia and want to send our best jobs to Communist China and Communist Vietnam?

And even our pro-German policy should be questioned IMHO. Although Germany has a great real democracy, they have, in my judgment, turned the rest of Europe into German colonies by means of the EEU and NATO "death traps".

Just look at the sad state of the United Kingdom, being glued to the EEU and robbed of their sovereignty.

Why are we still involved in our endless war in Afghanistan? We are remaining in Afghanistan for the minerals and the opium.
The NY Times ran a detailed feature a few years ago giving a virtual
shopping list of minerals for the military-industrial complex and
essentially acknowledging that is why we are there. However, Trump
recently complained in a meeting that China is getting the minerals
and we aren't.

Of course we are not in Afghanistan for military
reasons. We don't try to "win" wars anymore. We are there to loot
and plunder and intimidate -- classic imperialist strategies. A friend
of mine who served in Iraq several years back told me his unit commander explicitly told
the men they were not there to win but simply to hold their ground. The same
is true of Afghanistan. The United States has not won a war since 1945 (with
the major help of the Soviets), and not coincidentally that was the last
legal war, the last one we declared. We have lost every war since,
including Korea and Vietnam (the sole exception is Grenada, which
was a farce, with our huge military machine attacking a small island country.)

No one has been able to conquer Afghanistan since Alexander
the Great, and that was some time ago. (See also Kipling's
classic satire "The Man Who Would Be King" and the John
Huston film version.) I heard a speech by a former
chairman of the Joint Chiefs who said it is impossible to conquer
Afghanistan both because of the inhospitable terrain and because it is not
really a nation but a very loose amalgam of often warring tribes.
