Since the introduction of Adams into the mix allegedly on the
corner of Main and Houston, I have been looking for other images
that might help with the ID. Today, I compared Altgens 4 to the
Hughes film and found a "nearly identical" frame, but it is too
blurry to make any identifications.
However, I present it here for your consideration and comments,
particularly the anomaly in the Hughes frame.

I just remembered that Bothun 3 does show the man. If I can locate
my original, I can do a bigger scan for comparisons.

Jack:
Even if the points of view are similar, it does not necessarily mean that the photographers were standing next to each other.
Furthermore, in the Altgens photograph the president is looking to his left, whereas in the Hughes frame he is looking to his right (see attached graphic).
So, clearly, the two exposures were made at least a second or two apart, which explains why the cop is visible in one and not the other and why the background personnel differ.
I agree that the anomaly looks odd. What do the frames immediately before and after this one look like?

Don't forget this comparison. (Perhaps you can advise me as to who took the assassination-aftermath photograph.) Admittedly, Mr. Adams is significantly older in one than in the other, but they show a similar body type.
Comparing Altgens to Bothun, I find that they seem to have an identical
line of sight. How can that be possible without one of them in the view
of the other? They would have to be standing shoulder to shoulder.

According to the map in Pictures of the Pain, Altgens and Bothun were about fifteen feet from each other. Altgens was literally looking over Bothun's left shoulder at that point -- about 200 feet from the limo. Altgens must have been using a telephoto lens, which explains why Bothun is not visible.

It has been pointed out to me that Altgens and Bothun were at the junction of Main and Houston when they took their photographs of the limo entering Houston. They then jogged across the grass to the location on Elm that I mentioned before -- about 200 ft from the corner of Main and Houston.
Accordingly, I withdraw my post which begins with the words "According to the map in Pictures of the Pain..."

I am not familiar with that photo. What is its provenance?

I disagree with the accuracy of your comments. (second or two?)
I did not save before and after frames.
It is interesting that the "blob anomaly" is in the EXACT place
where Adams/Conein was standing.

Altgens likely did not take Altgens 4, which is attributed to him.
