Group 1
Is the transcript of the interrogation of various police officers (Graves, Archer, Clardy, McMillan, etc) at Ruby's trial relative to the facts and circumstances surrounding Oswald's murder by Ruby. In several of the PDF's (PDF 4, %a, and another one), half of the PDF's are posted upside down.
Wade attempted to get two things across:
1) Ruby told the arresting officers that he tried to shoot Oswald three times, but the police were too fast for him; and,
2) That he (Ruby) intended to "kill the son of the bitch."
there was some curious interplay between the defense counsel and a couple of the officers that statements written out or their supervisors differed from the testimony they were giving at trial.
Judge Brown refused to allow those statements from being introduced as evidence.
The defense counsel also objected to allowing any statements made by Ruby after his arrest should be disallowed. Brown overruled their objections.

Appears to be more of the same.
The first 3 pdf files were all posted upside down.
You have to save them to your hard drive, and then using Adobe, rotate them.
I had to laugh. At one point Belli
is arguing with Judge Brown on the statements given by police officers. The defense has not been allowed to see them.
Finally, Ass't DA William Alexander introduces one as state's evidence, but it is a photostatic copy and Belli hasn't had the chance to examine it to see if it is authentic.
Belli says' "Judge, these may be as valid as a Chinese laundry ticket, as far as I know." He demands to see the originals. He is refused.
Belli asks, "Are we back in the Middle Ages, Judge, that we can't see the original of a document?"
The Court: "Yes, Sir."

pdf 42. Affidavit of Claude Govar, owner of ZIP Sign Co. Robert Craven commissioned Govar to paint some signs on the midway at the Texas State Fair in late October. The money to pay for the signs was backed by Ruby. With Govar at the Fair was a 13 year old daughter of a neighbor. Ruby sexually fondled the girl. Govar rebuked him for it. Ruby said the girl should come to the Carousel and audition for amateur striptease night. Govar said no. Ruby said, "he liked them as young as he could get them." The check to Govar bounced.

Group 6
pdfs 51 - 55. These pdfs revolve around Wade's participation in the making of a movie called "Countdown in Dallas" in 1967. The movie was going to be produced by Robert Larsen Productions in Colorado Springs, CO They were going to create a seperate company called Flag-Star, Inc. The movie was going to be a documentary, but it was also supposed to bolster the image of Dallas, TX in the eyes of the world. Wade, Curry and Robert Denson had agreed to open their personal, confidential, and public files and records. Wade was going to get $20,000 plus 20% of the producer's gross. Curry was going to get $10,000 and 10% of the gross. Denson was going to get $5,000 and 5% of the gross. Robert Denson was a private eye and the Chief Investigator for the defense during Ruby's trial. There were newspaper articles in the LA Times and NY Times on this movie at the time. Roy Truly wanted $2,000 to act in the movie and another $5,000 for use of the TSBD.
Negotiations started around April of 1967, but the project appears to have fizzled by October.
There are budgets for the movie project and anticipated rates of returns for investors. Together, Wade, Curry and Denson were projected to receive $255,000.
There are some letters to Wade written by people who read about the project in the papers. Some are not very complimentary.

Group 10
are the "Bill of Exceptions", the legal arguments why the defense felt Judge Brown was wrong when he overruled their objections. In each case Judge Brown dismisses their Exceptions. In one, the defense out and out says that Patrick Dean committed perjury on the stand when he claimed to be upstairs talking to Ruby with Forrest Sorrels, while contemporaneous news footage shows him downstairs being interviewed on TV.
Other Exceptions include not allowing evidence that insanity ran in Ruby's family from being introduced at trial, and not allowing a change in venue.
Group 11
are the last of the Bill of Exceptions, and motions for changes in counsel for the defense for Ruby's Appeal.
Then follows congratulatory telegrams sent to Wade from ordinary citizens and letters sent to Ruby while he was in jail.
Group 12
are letters to Ruby while he was in jail.
Many are illegible, many are religious in nature.
Some are congratulatory, some condemn him.
Some people sent him $1.00. One person sent him six green stamps.
On page 14 of pdf 32, Breck Wall and Joe Peterson sent him reviews of the Bottoms Up musical review published in the Houston Post.

Letters and telegrams to and from Henry Wade from friends and ordinary citizens. Most are congratulatory. Some are not.
Some discussion concerning the death penalty.
Letter from Wade to Donna Clark of Fort Worth dated March 25, 1964, a junior doing a term paper on JFK's assassination,
"The shots came from the Texas School Book Depository and all of the facts indicated that the assassin was Lee Harvey Oswald, although the facts are circumstantial, there being no eyewitness that identified him."
So much for Howard Brennan.

p. 12. David Conrad Glass of Klamath Falls, OR called Albuquerque FBI and told them he was enroute to Dallas to testify in Jack Ruby case. Asked if he had been subpoened as a witness, he said no. With respect to the Passport, Lt. George Butler phoned in to DPD Headquarters and reported that Ruby and Oswald had gotten a Mexican visa at the same time.
On December 9, 1963 Lt. Jack Revill and Detective H.M. Hart filed a report with Chief Curry writing that Lt. George Butler had informed them that he (Butler) had information that Jack Ruby had applied for a visa to visit Mexico at the same time Oswald traveled there. Butler suggested to Revill that Revill should contact the Mexican Consulate.
They also said that Butler told them that he had information that Oswald was Ruby’s illegitimate son.

"Jack Wilner, crime reporter for a Chicago Daily News reports that his "syndicate sources" reflect that Ruby as being connected to Nick St. John, Paul Labriola, Marcus Lipsky and Paul Roland Jones in efforts to take over gambling in Texas. Allegedly involved were Steve Guthrie, Sheriff of the County and one George Butler. In this connection with the above, one George Butler, Dallas Police Department was known to have been an investigator for the late Senator Kefaufer." Investigations failed to verify Wilners statements.

John Henry (LNU) met Ruby on the street around 9 or 10:00 PM on 11/23. Ruby appeared calm. "He said he did not see or hear of Ruby being in the Empire Dance Hall or any other Negro nightclub passing out $5.00 on November 23 or on any other occasion."

"Naylor received information from Jean Nelson, Tanglewood Apts., possibly Apt 212, that a party was held at Apt. 104, Tanglewood Apts. on Wednesday night, November 20, 1963. The following persons were reportedly in attendance at this party: Frank T. Tortoriello, a boyfriend of Jada, Jack Ruby, Joe F. Frederici, who is a nephew of Vito Genevese, Sandy, who is Frederici's wife, Mrs. Ann Bryant, who resides in Apt. 106, Tanglewood Apts., and Jada. It is Naylor's understanding that Joe F. Frederici, and his wife Sandy, left Dallas Thursday, November 21, 1963, for New Jersey or some place in the East."
pdf 298. Interview with Mrs. Betty Jean Sims. Went to work for Ruby at the Silver Spur when she was 14. She pretended to be 18. Worked one night. She quit when Ruby tried to rape her in the kitchen.
pdf 299. Interview with Frank T. Tortorelleo. (SEE pdf 297). Tortorelleo, owner of J.C. Adams Construction Co. Knew Ruby for 5 or 6 years. Met Jada. She stayed overnight with him sometimes. Said Ruby had never attended a party at his apartment and that on November 20, 1963, neither Jada, Ruby or Joe Frederici had been in attendance at his party.

p. 3. page out of sequence. Interview with a (FNU) Brady. Brady and Ed (LNU), a bartender at the Silver Spur, went together in 1951 and bought Ruby a .38 Colt snub-nosed. Brady left Ruby's employ in 1952. "Brady added that he heard from an unrecalled source in recent months that one could go to Ruby's Vegas Club in Dallas and get any kind of narcotics he wanted."

Elaine Mynier went to Cuba in 1959. Ruby saw her off at the airport and gave her a coded five number and letter message including the word, "Arriving" to give to McWillie. Told her to tell McWillie that "Sparky from Chicago is coming."
pdf 2107. Seth Kantor says that Ruby was at Parkland Hospital at the time the President's death was announced at 1:28 PM. Tugged on Kantor's coat and spoke to him.
pdf 2108. Warrren Ritchey, engineer for WBAP-TV says he saw Ruby on the Commerce St. sidewalk outside of the police station at about 9:00 AM on 11/24/63.
John Smith, video reporter for WBAP-TV saw Ruby at about 8:00 AM on 11/24 standing on the Commerce St. sidewalk. WBAB-TV truck parked on Commerce St. about 25' from the basement ramp. Smith spoke to Ruby. Saw him again about 10:00 AM next to the ramp. Ruby looked like a person who was "just killing time."
Ira Walker, employee WBAB-TV saw Ruby between 7:30 and 8:00 AM near WBAB-TV truck. Walker said he first saw Ruby shortly after the armored truck was backed into the basement of the Police Department. Ruby came up to the WBAP-TV truck and asked if Oswald had been brought down yet. Walker told him "no". uby came up to truck and asked this question on two occasions.
Sam Pate, formerly with KBOX talked to Ruby at City Hall around midnight on 11/22. Ruby was not disturbed.
Roy Pryor, printer at Dallas Times Herald spoke to Ruby at the Times Herald about 4:00 AM on 11/23. Ruby told Pryor that he had corrected Henry Wade at the midnight press conference because, he "realized the Committee named by Wade was an Anti-Cuban Committee whereupon Oswald's Committee was Pro-Cuban."

Said Ruby told him that he was going to send some of the literature to President Kennedy and also to the FBI so that the authorities would know the nature of the literature put out by Hunt
Western Union Telegram 11/24/63. This sentence was underlined. "The receipt was given to Ruby at his request when he filed the message."
P.W. Campbell said he thought he saw Oswald talking Spanish with three men he took to be Cubans in front of the YMCA between October 25 and 31, 1963.

pdf 2140. Mrs. Edward C. Kuehn. Operates BO's Barbeque on main floor of building housing Carousel Club. Ruby's method of advertising and sign placement was the reason she had to close her BBQ business. It drove away her customers.
Interviw with Claude Merrell, chef at Copper Cow Restaurant. Merrell and Slatin were going to open Sovereign Club. Slatin ran out of money and sold his interest to Ruby for $1,500.

pdf 2141. Interview with Dave Miller. Ruby wrote him from prison. His shine and press shop (drycleaning) was two doors from the Carousel.

Elizabeth Nelson was asked if she was at the 11/20/63 party at apartment of Frank Tortoriello. She said no.
Ann Bryant said she was at that party. All of the people were strangers. One looked like Jack Ruby based on his newspaper picture.

pdf 2142. Ruby was poor credit. Ruby with a young boy. The boy told Ruby he had a date with a girl. "Ruby beat him badly and tore the shirt from his back."
Interview with Wallace Rash AKA Wally or Willie Rash, Truth Verification, Inc. Former Dallas Police Officer. Ruby asked Eva to call him and ask him to drop Ruby a letter or postcard. Eva tells him, "I tell you, part of him (Jack) died that day (11/22). He just never got over it." Money to run the Carousel: "Ralph Paul must have put a fortune, but he ain't telling."
pdf 2143. page out of sequence. Interview with (FNU) Semos. Partnered with Ralph Paul in operating the Miramar Club. Didn't like the way Paul treated patrons and he bought him out. He said Paul was a "highly volatile type person of the same temperment as Ruby."
Interview with Joe Sherin, Los Angeles. Piano player at University Club. Ruby would point out girls to the police officers and say, "She will play."
Interview with Eugene Smith, Arnold, MO. Former Dallas Police Officer in Radio Patrol. "Ruby was likeable, but he felt he (Ruby) was "queer as a 3-dollar bill."
Detective Roy Standifer, Burglary and Theft. Knew Ruby for 13 years from back in the Silver Spur days. 30 days prior to assassination, Ruby called him about installing a safe at the Carousel.
pdf 2144. John Wilson in September, 1962 was drinking at the Lasso Bar. Frank Ferrarro comes in and makes a phone call. While he's on the phone, Ruby comes in and attacks him. Wilson thought Ruby used brass knuckles. Police arrived and arrested Ferrarro.
pdf 2145. Howell Watson, realtor who handled property owned by Houston H. Nichols and Clarence Nichols. They owned the building where the Carousel was located. Carousel orginally leased to Joe Slatin. As of November, 1962 lease was four months delinquent.
pdf 2146. In a letter dated February 14, 1963 Ruby was $1,650 behind in his rent. Lease renewed in March, 1963. Harold Nichols, who was personally acquainted with Ruby instructed that the lease with Ruby be renewed. Ruby always on time with rent from March on.
Jerry Anthony "Tony" Voland, bouncer and doorman at the Vegas and Carousel. Slept on a rollaway bed in the hall. While normally keeping his gun in his car trunk, about a year ago, Ruby was carrying it on his person, because he heard that someone who had just been released from prison was "lloking for him." Voland did not know who that person was.
pdf 2147. Henry "Red" Calhoun. 1954 he got in a fight with Ruby. Ruby hit him in the mouth and it required 16 stitches.
Willis D. "Dub" Dickerson. He was the one who bit off part or Ruby's finger during a fight in 1951.
William Boone Goode, accounting firm who prepared Ruby's tax returns. His only recollection of Ruby was that the firm had difficulty in collecting their fees.
Mrs. Charles Isaacs, seamstress. Did some work for Breck Wall and Joe Peterson. She was paid by Ruby with a bogus check.

Fred Schreiner, tax accountant. Did work for Ruby in 1961 and said Ruby had been in difficulty with the IRS.
pdf 2149. Robert Weaver, tax accountant. Did some work for Ruby in 1960 or 1961. Ruby's papers were scattered all over the place. Ruby couldn't get the needed reports and bills together.
R.L. Davis, in charge of occupational license and special tax department, City of Dallas. Regular police officers are not permitted to work at any Club during their off hours, or at any other time for the Club management. Clubs which have dance hall licenses use special officers certified by the Special Service Bureau. These special officers are civilians; when so employed, wear the regular police uniform and carry a pistol, and as such, have the powers of arrest. Club owners pay the City and the City pays the officers. Club owners pay a year in advance for the anticipated work and the money is put into an escrow fund called the Special Service Fund. For the Vegas Club, the City paid out:
1955, $411.00; 1956, $742.00; 1957, $756.00; 1958, $7.00.
pdf 2150. Don Campbell, Dallas Morning News saw Ruby and Ralph Paul eating dinner at the Egyptian Lounge at 10:00 PM on 11/21.
Joe Campisi saw them there too.
Seth Kantor says he "saw and tlked with" Ruby at Parkland Hospital on 11/22/63 at about 2:00 PM.
Mr. Jack Johnson, 2114 Fenwick, Dallas. He has seen a 12"X11" photograph of the President as he was turning off Houston on to Elm. In the background he could see Jack Ruby standing on the curb at the corner of Houston and Elm. The photograph was taken by a Mr. Morris and was located at 6408 Snyder Plaza in a building owned by Morris.
"Mr. Morris Weinkrantz, 5508 Forrest advised he has a photograph that he purchased from a Negro, Forrest Ave. in Dallas showing the President's automobile turning from Houston on to Elm and that a man wearing a hat in the picture had been pointed out to him as being Jack Ruby and a woman without glasses standing behind this man was supposedly one of the girls that worked at the Carousel Club."
Barney Baker said he got a call from Jack Ruby on November 11. "You don't know me, but we have mutual friends. We got friends, but I don't want to talk over the phone."
Ruby complained to Baker about his problems with the AGVA.
pdf 2151. Donald Stewart, electronics shop said 2 weeks prior to assassination, Ruby was in his shop with someone who might have been LHO. (Was probably Larry Crafard)
Jack Hardy interviewed 12/26/63 in County Jail in Mobile, AL. Knew Ruby. 1 year ago he attempted to set up a numbers game in Dallas and was advised by an individual that in order to operate in Dallas, it was necessary to have the clearance of Jack Ruby. Had a girlfriend Ruby was supposedly "messing around with" while Hardy was out of town. He and two friends went to Ruby's business and warned Ruby to keep his hands off the girl. Ruby pulled a 357. The girls was working for Ruby at the time. "Hardy also stated that the police officer killed by Oswald was a frequent visitor to Ruby's nightclub." Ruby hustled the strippers and other girls who worked at the Club and kept half the money. The dates were filled at the Holiday Motel in Irving where Ruby had an associate, a Negro who drove a cadillac.
Donald Keyes, KLIF recalled that Irving Alcano was a pratner of Ruby in the Vegas Club. Ruby had pistol whipped Alcano several years ago.
pdf 2152. Robert Norton, owner of the Pago Club. Ruby came into his Club on the 23rd. Ruby was concerned, ut appeared very calm.

Interview with Buddy Walthers. Advised his primary duties involve vice investigations. In his opinion, Ruby just happened to be at the police department garage at the right time and it was an impulsive act.
Joe Slatin, co-owner of the Sovereign Club said, "He and Ruby were operating the Club illegally at the time."

Lunesta Bell, former drummer at Vegas Club. Ruby was proud of his association with Dallas Police Officers. Was well acquainted with them.
Joey Gerard worked for Ruby in January, 1962. "Uniformed Officers were usually around the Carousel Club." He remembered a Lt. John Tony, Detective, DPD was frequently in the Carousel Club, two or three times weekly. "Gerard vaguely remembered seeing Tippitt at the Club, but was not positive about this." Ruby went to police station one time to get Frank Fisher out of jail.
Richard W. Proeber, stage manager for all-girl review production rum by Breck Wall and Joe Peterson. Ruby severely beat Joe Peterson over a contract dispute.

pdf 2154. Richard Proeber. "There was talk among Ruby's help that Ruby was "paying off" the Dallas Police Department for special favors."
Albert Schroll, pitcher for the Minnesota Twins Baseball Club. Worked as a bouncer at the Carousel and Vegas Clubs on and off for about a month in September, 1963.
Dolores Silva, stripper. Used the name Dior Angel. (Wonder if this was the Mexican stripper who allegedly knew Oswald)
Vernon Smith, employed by Red Calhoun. In his fight with Calhoun, Ruby used brass knuckles.
James H. Rhodes, photographer. Had met Ruby prior to 1959. In 1960 he worked for Ruby as a general handyman, booked shows and trained girls for dancing. About a month after the Carousel became a public club in 1960, there was a party for 30 - 40 police officers. Ruby told him the Chief was there and Rhodes assumed he meant Chief Curry. Said Bob Larkin, former host of the Colony Club could identify the names of vice squad and other officers who were hanging around the Carousel Club.
pdf 2154-2155. Interview with Robert Larkin. "Four or five years ago he managed the Vegas Club for ruby during which period Ruby vacationed in Cuba during the summer months"
Talked to Ruby at 5:50 PM on 11/23. Ruby said nothing to indicate he was under an unusual mental stress. He recalls that on one occasion, Lt. James Gilmore, DPD Vice Squad, was particularly friendly with Ruby.
Curry says he did not know Ruby and he had never been in the Carousel Club and had never attended any parties where Ruby picked up the tab. He was sure Ruby never gave a party for the DPD Vice Squad.
Captain Gannaway has never heard of a party being given at Jack Ruby's Carousel Club.
pdf 2155. Billy Preston, Deputy Constable, Dallas. He has served Ruby on several occasions. Ruby wanted a card that would indicate that he was a part-time deputy. Preston talked it over with Robie Love and Love turned Ruby down.
Martin Brauner, teenage friend. Scalped sporting event tickets with Ruby in Chicago. So did Hyman. Hyman's nickname was "Mess." Visited Ruby several times in Dallas.
pdf 2156. Ruby told Brauner that he (Ruby) didn't have to pay anyone off in Dallas, but that he did have to make small payoffs to various unidentified individuals when he first moved to Dallas when it was "wide open." Ruby told him that he did not have any underworld or syndicate connections. Eva recalled that Brauner's nickname was "Mugsy." Brauner said he did not believe that Ruby knew Oswald.

Group 1
Is the transcript of the interrogation of various police officers (Graves, Archer, Clardy, McMillan, etc) at Ruby's trial relative to the facts and circumstances surrounding Oswald's murder by Ruby. In several of the PDF's (PDF 4, %a, and another one), half of the PDF's are posted upside down.
Wade attempted to get two things across:
1) Ruby told the arresting officers that he tried to shoot Oswald three times, but the police were too fast for him; and,
2) That he (Ruby) intended to "kill the son of the bitch."
there was some curious interplay between the defense counsel and a couple of the officers that statements written out or their supervisors differed from the testimony they were giving at trial.
Judge Brown refused to allow those statements from being introduced as evidence.
The defense counsel also objected to allowing any statements made by Ruby after his arrest should be disallowed. Brown overruled their objections.

I had to laugh. At one point Belli
is arguing with Judge Brown on the statements given by police officers. The defense has not been allowed to see them.
Finally, Ass't DA William Alexander introduces one as state's evidence, but it is a photostatic copy and Belli hasn't had the chance to examine it to see if it is authentic.
Belli says' "Judge, these may be as valid as a Chinese laundry ticket, as far as I know." He demands to see the originals. He is refused.
Belli asks, "Are we back in the Middle Ages, Judge, that we can't see the original of a document?"

The money to pay for the signs was backed by Ruby. With Govar at the Fair was a 13 year old daughter of a neighbor. Ruby sexually fondled the girl. Govar rebuked him for it. Ruby said the girl should come to the Carousel and audition for amateur striptease night. Govar said no. Ruby said, "he liked them as young as he could get them." The check to Govar bounced.

pdfs 51 - 55. These pdfs revolve around Wade's participation in the making of a movie called "Countdown in Dallas" in 1967. The movie was going to be produced by Robert Larsen Productions in Colorado Springs, CO They were going to create a seperate company called Flag-Star, Inc. The movie was going to be a documentary, but it was also supposed to bolster the image of Dallas, TX in the eyes of the world. Wade, Curry and Robert Denson had agreed to open their personal, confidential, and public files and records. Wade was going to get $20,000 plus 20% of the producer's gross. Curry was going to get $10,000 and 10% of the gross. Denson was going to get $5,000 and 5% of the gross. Robert Denson was a private eye and the Chief Investigator for the defense during Ruby's trial. There were newspaper articles in the LA Times and NY Times on this movie at the time. Roy Truly wanted $2,000 to act in the movie and another $5,000 for use of the TSBD.
Negotiations started around April of 1967, but the project appears to have fizzled by October.
There are budgets for the movie project and anticipated rates of returns for investors. Together, Wade, Curry and Denson were projected to receive $255,000.
There are some letters to Wade written by people who read about the project in the papers. Some are not very complimentary.

are the "Bill of Exceptions", the legal arguments why the defense felt Judge Brown was wrong when he overruled their objections. In each case Judge Brown dismisses their Exceptions. In one, the defense out and out says that Patrick Dean committed perjury on the stand when he claimed to be upstairs talking to Ruby with Forrest Sorrels, while contemporaneous news footage shows him downstairs being interviewed on TV.
Other Exceptions include not allowing evidence that insanity ran in Ruby's family from being introduced at trial, and not allowing a change in venue.
Group 11
are the last of the Bill of Exceptions, and motions for changes in counsel for the defense for Ruby's Appeal.
Then follows congratulatory telegrams sent to Wade from ordinary citizens and letters sent to Ruby while he was in jail.

Many are illegible, many are religious in nature.

Letter from Wade to Donna Clark of Fort Worth dated March 25, 1964, a junior doing a term paper on JFK's assassination,
"The shots came from the Texas School Book Depository and all of the facts indicated that the assassin was Lee Harvey Oswald, although the facts are circumstantial, there being no eyewitness that identified him."

With respect to the Passport, Lt. George Butler phoned in to DPD Headquarters and reported that Ruby and Oswald had gotten a Mexican visa at the same time.
On December 9, 1963 Lt. Jack Revill and Detective H.M. Hart filed a report with Chief Curry writing that Lt. George Butler had informed them that he (Butler) had information that Jack Ruby had applied for a visa to visit Mexico at the same time Oswald traveled there. Butler suggested to Revill that Revill should contact the Mexican Consulate.
They also said that Butler told them that he had information that Oswald was Ruby’s illegitimate son.

Det. Edward Carlson of the Dallas Police ID Bureau appears to be very friendly to Ruby and knows him well.
Lenny Patrick of Chicago knows Ruby over a period of years and denies any hoodlum connections.

"Jack Wilner, crime reporter for a Chicago Daily News reports that his "syndicate sources" reflect that Ruby as being connected to Nick St. John, Paul Labriola, Marcus Lipsky and Paul Roland Jones in efforts to take over gambling in Texas. Allegedly involved were Steve Guthrie, Sheriff of the County and one George Butler. In this connection with the above, one George Butler, Dallas Police Department was known to have been an investigator for the late Senator Kefaufer." Investigations failed to verify Wilners statements.

John Henry (LNU) met Ruby on the street around 9 or 10:00 PM on 11/23. Ruby appeared calm. "He said he did not see or hear of Ruby being in the Empire Dance Hall or any other Negro nightclub passing out $5.00 on November 23 or on any other occasion."
Badly smeared interview with a Lee Metker who had a fist fight with Ruby in the Eatwell Cafe in 1951.
pdf 297. Mr. E. Mace Naylor, 3909 Inwood, Tanglewood Apt. No. 5, Dallas, Texas, Telephone FL 7-6835, furnished the following:
"Naylor received information from Jean Nelson, Tanglewood Apts., possibly Apt 212, that a party was held at Apt. 104, Tanglewood Apts. on Wednesday night, November 20, 1963. The following persons were reportedly in attendance at this party: Frank T. Tortoriello, a boyfriend of Jada, Jack Ruby, Joe F. Frederici, who is a nephew of Vito Genevese, Sandy, who is Frederici's wife, Mrs. Ann Bryant, who resides in Apt. 106, Tanglewood Apts., and Jada. It is Naylor's understanding that Joe F. Frederici, and his wife Sandy, left Dallas Thursday, November 21, 1963, for New Jersey or some place in the East."
pdf 298. Interview with Mrs. Betty Jean Sims. Went to work for Ruby at the Silver Spur when she was 14. She pretended to be 18. Worked one night. She quit when Ruby tried to rape her in the kitchen.
pdf 299. Interview with Frank T. Tortorelleo. (SEE pdf 297). Tortorelleo, owner of J.C. Adams Construction Co. Knew Ruby for 5 or 6 years. Met Jada. She stayed overnight with him sometimes. Said Ruby had never attended a party at his apartment and that on November 20, 1963, neither Jada, Ruby or Joe Frederici had been in attendance at his party.
pdf 2100. John R. Shaw, Jr. sent a telegram to Ruby after Ruby shot Oswald. Shaw was a former Dallas policeman in 1946 and 47. His partner was Rio Sam Pierce. He and Pierce saw Ruby frequently at the Silver Spur.

"Ruel Alexander, Amarillo, a co-defendent with Billie Sol Estes, had an investigation made when he was considering buying a part of the Carousel Club and his investigator reported back that Ruby was a "queer.""

Elaine Mynier went to Cuba in 1959. Ruby saw her off at the airport and gave her a coded five number and letter message including the word, "Arriving" to give to McWillie. Told her to tell McWillie that "Sparky from Chicago is coming."
pdf 2107. Seth Kantor says that Ruby was at Parkland Hospital at the time the President's death was announced at 1:28 PM. Tugged on Kantor's coat and spoke to him.
pdf 2108. Warrren Ritchey, engineer for WBAP-TV says he saw Ruby on the Commerce St. sidewalk outside of the police station at about 9:00 AM on 11/24/63.
John Smith, video reporter for WBAP-TV saw Ruby at about 8:00 AM on 11/24 standing on the Commerce St. sidewalk. WBAB-TV truck parked on Commerce St. about 25' from the basement ramp. Smith spoke to Ruby. Saw him again about 10:00 AM next to the ramp. Ruby looked like a person who was "just killing time."
Ira Walker, employee WBAB-TV saw Ruby between 7:30 and 8:00 AM near WBAB-TV truck. Walker said he first saw Ruby shortly after the armored truck was backed into the basement of the Police Department. Ruby came up to the WBAP-TV truck and asked if Oswald had been brought down yet. Walker told him "no". uby came up to truck and asked this question on two occasions.
Sam Pate, formerly with KBOX talked to Ruby at City Hall around midnight on 11/22. Ruby was not disturbed.
Roy Pryor, printer at Dallas Times Herald spoke to Ruby at the Times Herald about 4:00 AM on 11/23. Ruby told Pryor that he had corrected Henry Wade at the midnight press conference because, he "realized the Committee named by Wade was an Anti-Cuban Committee whereupon Oswald's Committee was Pro-Cuban."

Said Ruby told him that he was going to send some of the literature to President Kennedy and also to the FBI so that the authorities would know the nature of the literature put out by Hunt
Western Union Telegram 11/24/63. This sentence was underlined. "The receipt was given to Ruby at his request when he filed the message."
P.W. Campbell said he thought he saw Oswald talking Spanish with three men he took to be Cubans in front of the YMCA between October 25 and 31, 1963.

He checked in on October 3 and checked out October 4. None really remembered Oswald, many saw Ruby because of his visits to the Health Club there. Ruby was always alone. Interviw with Claude Merrell, chef at Copper Cow Restaurant. Merrell and Slatin were going to open Sovereign Club. Slatin ran out of money and sold his interest to Ruby for $1,500.

Ann Bryant said she was at that party. All of the people were strangers. One looked like Jack Ruby based on his newspaper picture.

Interview with Wallace Rash AKA Wally or Willie Rash, Truth Verification, Inc. Former Dallas Police Officer. Ruby asked Eva to call him and ask him to drop Ruby a letter or postcard. Eva tells him, "I tell you, part of him (Jack) died that day (11/22). He just never got over it." Money to run the Carousel: "Ralph Paul must have put a fortune, but he ain't telling."

Interview with Joe Sherin, Los Angeles. Piano player at University Club. Ruby would point out girls to the police officers and say, "She will play."
Interview with Eugene Smith, Arnold, MO. Former Dallas Police Officer in Radio Patrol. "Ruby was likeable, but he felt he (Ruby) was "queer as a 3-dollar bill."
Detective Roy Standifer, Burglary and Theft. Knew Ruby for 13 years from back in the Silver Spur days. 30 days prior to assassination, Ruby called him about installing a safe at the Carousel.
pdf 2144. John Wilson in September, 1962 was drinking at the Lasso Bar. Frank Ferrarro comes in and makes a phone call. While he's on the phone, Ruby comes in and attacks him. Wilson thought Ruby used brass knuckles. Police arrived and arrested Ferrarro.
pdf 2145. Howell Watson, realtor who handled property owned by Houston H. Nichols and Clarence Nichols. They owned the building where the Carousel was located. Carousel orginally leased to Joe Slatin. As of November, 1962 lease was four months delinquent.
pdf 2146. In a letter dated February 14, 1963 Ruby was $1,650 behind in his rent. Lease renewed in March, 1963. Harold Nichols, who was personally acquainted with Ruby instructed that the lease with Ruby be renewed. Ruby always on time with rent from March on.
Jerry Anthony "Tony" Voland, bouncer and doorman at the Vegas and Carousel. Slept on a rollaway bed in the hall. While normally keeping his gun in his car trunk, about a year ago, Ruby was carrying it on his person, because he heard that someone who had just been released from prison was "lloking for him." Voland did not know who that person was.
pdf 2147. Henry "Red" Calhoun. 1954 he got in a fight with Ruby. Ruby hit him in the mouth and it required 16 stitches.
Willis D. "Dub" Dickerson. He was the one who bit off part or Ruby's finger during a fight in 1951.
William Boone Goode, accounting firm who prepared Ruby's tax returns. His only recollection of Ruby was that the firm had difficulty in collecting their fees.
Mrs. Charles Isaacs, seamstress. Did some work for Breck Wall and Joe Peterson. She was paid by Ruby with a bogus check.

Fred Schreiner, tax accountant. Did work for Ruby in 1961 and said Ruby had been in difficulty with the IRS.
pdf 2149. Robert Weaver, tax accountant. Did some work for Ruby in 1960 or 1961. Ruby's papers were scattered all over the place. Ruby couldn't get the needed reports and bills together.
R.L. Davis, in charge of occupational license and special tax department, City of Dallas. Regular police officers are not permitted to work at any Club during their off hours, or at any other time for the Club management. Clubs which have dance hall licenses use special officers certified by the Special Service Bureau. These special officers are civilians; when so employed, wear the regular police uniform and carry a pistol, and as such, have the powers of arrest. Club owners pay the City and the City pays the officers. Club owners pay a year in advance for the anticipated work and the money is put into an escrow fund called the Special Service Fund. For the Vegas Club, the City paid out:
1955, $411.00; 1956, $742.00; 1957, $756.00; 1958, $7.00.
pdf 2150. Don Campbell, Dallas Morning News saw Ruby and Ralph Paul eating dinner at the Egyptian Lounge at 10:00 PM on 11/21.
Joe Campisi saw them there too.
Seth Kantor says he "saw and tlked with" Ruby at Parkland Hospital on 11/22/63 at about 2:00 PM.
Mr. Jack Johnson, 2114 Fenwick, Dallas. He has seen a 12"X11" photograph of the President as he was turning off Houston on to Elm. In the background he could see Jack Ruby standing on the curb at the corner of Houston and Elm. The photograph was taken by a Mr. Morris and was located at 6408 Snyder Plaza in a building owned by Morris.
"Mr. Morris Weinkrantz, 5508 Forrest advised he has a photograph that he purchased from a Negro, Forrest Ave. in Dallas showing the President's automobile turning from Houston on to Elm and that a man wearing a hat in the picture had been pointed out to him as being Jack Ruby and a woman without glasses standing behind this man was supposedly one of the girls that worked at the Carousel Club."
Barney Baker said he got a call from Jack Ruby on November 11. "You don't know me, but we have mutual friends. We got friends, but I don't want to talk over the phone."
Ruby complained to Baker about his problems with the AGVA.
pdf 2151. Donald Stewart, electronics shop said 2 weeks prior to assassination, Ruby was in his shop with someone who might have been LHO. (Was probably Larry Crafard)
Jack Hardy interviewed 12/26/63 in County Jail in Mobile, AL. Knew Ruby. 1 year ago he attempted to set up a numbers game in Dallas and was advised by an individual that in order to operate in Dallas, it was necessary to have the clearance of Jack Ruby. Had a girlfriend Ruby was supposedly "messing around with" while Hardy was out of town. He and two friends went to Ruby's business and warned Ruby to keep his hands off the girl. Ruby pulled a 357. The girls was working for Ruby at the time. "Hardy also stated that the police officer killed by Oswald was a frequent visitor to Ruby's nightclub." Ruby hustled the strippers and other girls who worked at the Club and kept half the money. The dates were filled at the Holiday Motel in Irving where Ruby had an associate, a Negro who drove a cadillac.
Donald Keyes, KLIF recalled that Irving Alcano was a pratner of Ruby in the Vegas Club. Ruby had pistol whipped Alcano several years ago.
pdf 2152. Robert Norton, owner of the Pago Club. Ruby came into his Club on the 23rd. Ruby was concerned, ut appeared very calm.

Interview with Buddy Walthers. Advised his primary duties involve vice investigations. In his opinion, Ruby just happened to be at the police department garage at the right time and it was an impulsive act.
Joe Slatin, co-owner of the Sovereign Club said, "He and Ruby were operating the Club illegally at the time."

Lunesta Bell, former drummer at Vegas Club. Ruby was proud of his association with Dallas Police Officers. Was well acquainted with them.
Joey Gerard worked for Ruby in January, 1962. "Uniformed Officers were usually around the Carousel Club." He remembered a Lt. John Tony, Detective, DPD was frequently in the Carousel Club, two or three times weekly. "Gerard vaguely remembered seeing Tippitt at the Club, but was not positive about this." Ruby went to police station one time to get Frank Fisher out of jail.
Richard W. Proeber, stage manager for all-girl review production rum by Breck Wall and Joe Peterson. Ruby severely beat Joe Peterson over a contract dispute.

pdf 2154. Richard Proeber. "There was talk among Ruby's help that Ruby was "paying off" the Dallas Police Department for special favors."
Albert Schroll, pitcher for the Minnesota Twins Baseball Club. Worked as a bouncer at the Carousel and Vegas Clubs on and off for about a month in September, 1963.
Dolores Silva, stripper. Used the name Dior Angel. (Wonder if this was the Mexican stripper who allegedly knew Oswald)
Vernon Smith, employed by Red Calhoun. In his fight with Calhoun, Ruby used brass knuckles.
James H. Rhodes, photographer. Had met Ruby prior to 1959. In 1960 he worked for Ruby as a general handyman, booked shows and trained girls for dancing. About a month after the Carousel became a public club in 1960, there was a party for 30 - 40 police officers. Ruby told him the Chief was there and Rhodes assumed he meant Chief Curry. Said Bob Larkin, former host of the Colony Club could identify the names of vice squad and other officers who were hanging around the Carousel Club.
pdf 2154-2155. Interview with Robert Larkin. "Four or five years ago he managed the Vegas Club for ruby during which period Ruby vacationed in Cuba during the summer months"
Talked to Ruby at 5:50 PM on 11/23. Ruby said nothing to indicate he was under an unusual mental stress. He recalls that on one occasion, Lt. James Gilmore, DPD Vice Squad, was particularly friendly with Ruby.
Curry says he did not know Ruby and he had never been in the Carousel Club and had never attended any parties where Ruby picked up the tab. He was sure Ruby never gave a party for the DPD Vice Squad.
Captain Gannaway has never heard of a party being given at Jack Ruby's Carousel Club.
pdf 2155. Billy Preston, Deputy Constable, Dallas. He has served Ruby on several occasions. Ruby wanted a card that would indicate that he was a part-time deputy. Preston talked it over with Robie Love and Love turned Ruby down.
Martin Brauner, teenage friend. Scalped sporting event tickets with Ruby in Chicago. So did Hyman. Hyman's nickname was "Mess." Visited Ruby several times in Dallas.

Ruby told Brauner that he (Ruby) didn't have to pay anyone off in Dallas, but that he did have to make small payoffs to various unidentified individuals when he first moved to Dallas when it was "wide open." Ruby told him that he did not have any underworld or syndicate connections. Eva recalled that Brauner's nickname was "Mugsy." Brauner said he did not believe that Ruby knew Oswald.

Rex told his brother that he obtained a confession from Ruby about the Oswals killing. Said Ruby told him invasion of Cuba would take place May 1, 1964. Groups were to meet at Key West and Mexico. Invasion sponsored by U.S. Government. a Dr. Jackson at Parkland said Rex has probable psychosis. Ruby was removed from Dallas jail prior to Rex's confinem...
