Judyth and Lee....the screenplay
#1
JVB's hoped for movie...will it be a spy thriller or a documentary?

Instead of resorting to documentation and claimed "facts"...let's
just resort to common sense, bit by bit...on the JVB scenario, as
I understand it.

Let's just look at the screenplay and see whether the audience will
buy it, based on common sense.

Scene 1. A teen-age woman stands in a line at the post post office,
holding in her hand a newspaper with a "coded ad" placed by her
fiance. A young man walks up and gets in line behind her. She
drops the coded newspaper, and the man graciously picks it up.
She thanks the stranger by speaking to him in Russian. He replies
in Russian, Though engaged to another man, she instantly falls in
love with the stranger.

Scene 2. She invites him to "walk her home".

Scene 3. The stranger tells her he is connected to the CIA and Mafia.
He offers to introduce her to his contacts.

Scene 4. They travel around town together as he introduces her to
Guy Banister, a former FBI man, now a private investigator, who is
involved in the Fair Play for Cuba Committee.

Scene 5. They go to the apartment of David Ferrie, where he tells
her he had known Ferrie from the time he was in the Civil Air Patrol.

Scene 6. They take a bus to the famed medical clinic run by Dr.
Ochsner, where the stranger known as Lee says he will introduce
her to the famed doctor. Lee goes into the doctor's office while
the teen girl waits in the waiting room. Then, Lee comes out and
invites her into the inner office to meet Ochsner. What a thrill for
a young girl interested in medical research.

Scene 7. It has been a busy day. The young couple take the
long bus ride back to her place. What a day! Two soulmates had
found each other. FADE TO BLACK

If you saw a movie start like this screenplay, would you take it to
be fictional or documentary? As fiction, it might be an interesting
James Bond type of spy thriller. As a documentary it is contrary
to common sense.

Not really Jack. I've been hit on more times that I care to remember with similar scenarios.
"The philosophers have only interpreted the world, in various ways. The point, however, is to change it." Karl Marx

"He would, wouldn't he?" Mandy Rice-Davies. When asked in court whether she knew that Lord Astor had denied having sex with her.

“I think it would be a good idea” Ghandi, when asked about Western Civilisation.

Jack,

Only the unique powers of art to engage intellect and enflame emotion simultaneously can do justice to the larger JFK story -- at least on screen.

How many assassination-related documentaries came and went before Oliver Stone's JFK exploded into public consciousness and resulted in creation of the Act of Congress that spawned the ARRB?

The pseudo-treatment you've offered is the stuff of non-fiction: linear, rushed, and absent the elements and structure of storytelling.

On the other hand, In Love with Night (working title) would be the story of a woman looking back on the events that brought her together with the love of her life, only to have him torn asunder in the maelstrom of violent history. It would reveal that history from the perspective of a strong yet deeply wounded woman devoted to telling the truth about the man who yet means the world to her.
