Harry, Correct me if I'm off the mark. It has been my understanding that the 'intelligence community and National Security State' feel comfortable relying on Mormons because the mythology of their religion/belief system states that the USA is the 'promised land' - 'God's chosen land' and for religious regions they are [thought to be] thus less likely then others to ever betray the Nation than almost anyone else. They are also right-wing in their belief system and racist/sexist which doesn't hurt either - and they believe in a strong hierarchical structure and taking orders from above their position in the structure. Lastly, their tradition of sending linguistically trained missionaries all over the World makes them easy to exploit for intelligence gathering. Thoughts?
