John - reading your posts #9 and #141, my sense is that you use "Manchurian Candidate" primarily to describe an aspiring White Russian fascist fuhrer and secondly as a possible "colloquial" description of kamikaze pilots.

This is very different from the standard meaning of "Manchurian Candidate" as, effectively, a programmed assassin.

Jan, this is not what Richard Condon intended or indicated. And Condon is THE authority on the novel ManCand and THE MANCHURIAN CANDIDATE from Manchuoko, Anastase Vonsiatsky. Even John Marks titled his book, The Search for The Manchurian Candidate" not CANDIDATES. Everyone stands corrected here. Marks and Condon are the experts here plus anyone else dressed up in a Top Hat and a Walrus Moustache in order to look like Warburg. Oh, I get it both Warbucks and Warburg start with "Warb" so that makes a man about 5'9" tall the paradigm for Draper as Big Daddy Warbucks. No cigar. Maybe Warburg was 6'5" tall INCLUDING HIS TOP HAT. LOL. Now I get it. But toss the stache and add the glasses and give him 8" of height and he STILL does not look like Big Daddy Warbucks, but Wickliffe Draper does.

Well whomever put that description together was not exactly conversant with Condon's deliberate usage of reversing the Black/White negatives discussed on the surface in the ostensible text into White/Black reverse negatives or positives within the sub-text.

Kline" which transposes into: "Johnny ("Johnny Iselin") is Ray S. Cline" who was with both the CIA and The World Anti-Communist League during it's most blatantly pro-Fascist era. Douglas MacArthur portraits displayed at distinct times, the Presidential Candidate in Madison Square Garden is named Benjamin K. Arthur as in "MacArthur." MacArthur's dad was named Arthur MacArthur, Jr. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Arthur_MacArthur,_Jr. as I recall and his father in law was named Benjamin. Instead of shooting "MacArthur" Raymond turns his gun on Iselin whom he was suppsed to just wound in the shoulder. He then shoots his mother, too. The novel has no portraits of MacArthur at all of course
and no references to Abraham Lincoln either, but the original move had both of these aspects inserted by Sinatra and Frankenheimer who obviously spoke with Condon during the making of this film. Ray S. Cline was the real handler for both Oswald and Robert Emmett Johnson who has been identified as a probable or positive "JFK sniper" by both Bill Turner, James Richards, Roy Hargraves and now myself. Cline took over the intelligence operations of Col. Uliuss L. Amoss, O.S.S. and Major Carleton ("Indiana Jones") Coon, O.S.S. a Draper Eugenicist which involved the use of programmed assassins, saboteurs, deep-cover agents placed in foreign countries and similar tactics and techniques ever since World War I under William Nelson Cromwell, OSJ the founding partner of Sullivan and Cromwell and since World War II under William "Wild Bill" Donovan, OSJ, then later under Allen Dulles who worked for Cromwell at Sullivan and Cromwell. Even the "Lee Harvey" Oswald character Raymond Shaw, was played by Lawrence Harvey the actor, whom Frankenheimer referred to as "Lee Harvey", the common version of his name, in a 1961 interview about the movie. (Either very, very odd and coincidental or maybe the plotters picked "Lee Harvey" out of several alternative killers, because of this coincidence.) Lee Harvey Oswald had undergone intensive MK/ULTRA training under the real Ray S. Cline while his unit was stationed in Ping Tung Taiwan for a 30-45 day period when Cline was there living in his "Pink Palace" on a hill.

Richard Condon was in fact the first person who was not part of the plot to know the intimate details of their attempt on JFK in 1958 in California done by "The California Bombers" including Roy Hargraves, a South Florida Soldier of Fortune who was an advisor to Oliver Stone on the movie: JFK.
