But bear in mind that the massive "blob", which is not present in frames 372-375, was painted in, just as the blow-out was painted out, as Roderick Ryan, an expert in special effects, explained to Noel Twyman, BLOODY TREASON (1997), page 160. The blow-out ("grey patch") can be seen here, but the "blob" obfuscates the skull-flap in this frame. (Brains, remember, are often described as "gray matter"!) Ryan would receive an Academy Award for his contributions to cinematography in 2000. If you go back and forth between Mantik's study of the lateral cranial X-ray ("Area P") and the HSCA photograph and diagram, you can discern the features that are real from those that are not.
