As mentioned several posts above, in 2006 the CIA declassified a set of documents that on the one hand prove the organization of stay-behind networks in Germany by the CIA and on the other hand show that BND and CIA perfectly knew that Adolf Eichmann was living in Argentina under the alias "Klement" (initially reported as "Clemens"). The documents also make clear that Gehlen and the BND and therefore the CIA had an interest to hide the true nazi role of Hans Globke, who was effectively Konrad Adenauers national security adviser and contact to US intelligence.
