A massive explosion could make for some very small bits of plane and contents but there would still be particles of it to fall and not all small either and not all would sink. More likely ripped apart with wide area debris. Another scenario could be an intact plane driven/fallen into water at @ 90 degree angle and disappear whole and intact.
