Now that we have two lawyers on the forum (or possibly more?), there is a question that I have been pondering for some time now.
If LHO had lived, been convicted of JFK's murder and sentenced to a life term, would the evidence uncovered in the last 50 years be sufficient grounds for a lawyer to file for an appeal of his conviction, or a new trial?
I have asked this question of several lawyers here in Canada but have been told American law operates quite differently from our legal system. One did point out that, unlike Canada where murder is a Federal offense, it is quite likely LHO would have been tried under Texas state law.

Mr. HILL. The right rear portion of his head was missing. It was lying in the rear seat of the car. His brain was exposed. There was blood and bits of brain all over the entire rear portion of the car. Mrs. Kennedy was completely covered with blood. There was so much blood you could not tell if there had been any other wound or not, except for the one large gaping wound in the right rear portion of the head.
