DJ: IMO, the power to cause others to give pause is the true measure of power. Not to be able to smell out whom to watch out for can lead to a lot of trouble. Why, you might get your name in the paper about how you committed suicide by shooting yourself with a nail gun in the head and torso seven or eight times.
In this world, one knows what to think and what not to think; what to say and what not to say.
Thinking of the Godfather film trilogy, Michael Corleone's brother Fredo eventually is executed because he is blind to this reality.
Finally, there those few at the top who have nothing to fear from anyone and they know it. They can think anything, do anything, see anything. They are the ones who make history. Their concern is to maintain their power and even increase it.

I certainly agree with your view of the Yankee and Cowboy War theory. It's brilliant ultimately wrong.
