Braden-Brading seems to have met with H.L. Hunt, had an office near that of David Ferrie, stayed at the Cabana Motel visited by Jack Ruby the night before the assassination, and been looking for a phone that day.
He presents these features of interest, while we are taunted by the late matadors Hunt and Prouty with Sarti and Lansdale.

Braden/Brading IMHO was certainly in the 'know' about the events to happen and played some part.....what that was...spotter, communications man, timer, shooter, I know not for sure. I'll keep my leanings to myself at this point. Yeah, as Phil points out he knew many in the 'mix' of the 'fix'. That they detained him and then released him [as were the 'Tramps' and other VERY suspicious characters] almost puts him on the primary suspect list. He was certainly located in a building from which I believe a shooter team fired. This team may also be the reason why the turn of the motorcade is cut from the Z-film.......

While it appears that any gunmen successfully escaped DP, I have to wonder about the escape of the weapon(s). And I do believe there were gunmen, and in location(s) other than TSBD. I have seen, on film, a gentleman in a suit carrying an overcoat draped over his forearm that to me appears suspicious. But, I don't recall any information about the gentleman, or his over/raincoat.
I remember there was a "theory" reported several years ago that the Secret Service was using the letter "X" in Dallas
as an identifier of a "friendly" person. I always found this claim to be especially specious. But, note the rather obvious
XXX pattern around the Brading hat. I tend to think the "theory" sprang from the presence of the X's on the hat rather
than organically. Does anyone remember where that theory originated? Was it the Gemstone File or some similarly
impossible to verify source?

I remember George Michael Evica telling me about what for the lack of a better word was a "fraternity" of members of the KKK or another subversive organization within the DPD whose members identified themselves via a unique variation -- I believe he referenced a white hatband.

I seem to remember there was one of the main detectives who wore a white cowboy hat and all his ambitious acolytes used to wear them as well.
Quote:The Homicide and Robbery Bureau
The members of this bureau naturally looked upon themselves as the elite. They could easily be recognised as they were the ones wearing the white hats. Captain John William ("Will") Fritz was in overall charge of the bureau, with two assistants: Lieutenants James A Bohart and Ted P. Wells. Fritz was to retire in 1970 after 49 years as a law enforcement officer.http://the-puzzle-palace.com/dpd1963.html
