I wasn't at school, or even in the US, when JFK was assassinated. So no memories of that day. But in the early 1970's in far flung and provincial Australia while visiting my Swedish/Irish girlfriend Freya she told me how JFK had come to visit her last night. He sat on the end of her bed and looked at her. She knew who he was from photos she had seen some times. He looked very sad. She was sad for him. But he told her every thing would be okay. Then he left.

We had a house full of company that weekend.

Being from the NY metro area but living in the countryside of connecticut meant we got a lot of company from friends and relative that would spend the weekend to unwind.

My mothers aunt and two uncles showed up on Friday and stayed till sunday.
