Impressive ( the air lift matter is completely new to me) and - not that new.
There are circa 50 pages about Kennedy and Africa (and foreign aid in general), in Arthur Schlesingers 1965(sic) book A THOUSAND DAYS.
I think it is the earliest account of that topic. And it is from a Kennedy aid.
I will read "Betting on the Africans" and "Ordeal in Africa", because it obviously shows how with Kennedys head blown off, African hopes where blown off too, and how the masters of the cold war drove that continent into chaos, after there bloody deed in Dallas...all the way down from Patrice Lumumba to Idi Amin...
(Compared to Kennedy, Johnson and Nixon where Cynics, regarding the black continent...)
