I continue to think that the use of the phrase "stay behind army" in connection with Gladio is, whilst correct, misleading.
Yes, these covert forces did have their origins in the preservation of Nazi elements in Europe and South America, ostensibly to fight the purported Red Menace of Soviet communism.
For me, though, that is the Official Lie.
In my judgement, the key to Gladio is the use made of these forces by intelligence agences, and the MO: especially, the deliberate commission of false flag atrocities which would then be blamed on the (usually leftist) opposition, and the perpetration of "plausibly deniable" assassinations and coups d'etats.
So, I believe that the Strategy of Tension is the key to Gladio.
The fact that these were fundamentally Nazi elements is the second most important factor about Gladio.
The "stay behind" scenario, to fight the Red Menace, is a layer of diversion. It draws attention away from the core nature of these Gladio fascists and their absolutely ruthless philososphy.
