Of late, Len Osanic had been taking his show Black Op Radio to new heights.
In just the last few weeks, he has had on Bill Pepper on MLK, Grover Proctor on the Raleigh call, and Doug Valentine on his new important book, The CIA as Organzied Crime.
Upcoming, he will soon have Dan Hardway on the new audio version of the Lopez Report and John Newman on his revised edition of JFK and Vietnam, and his new volume Countdown to Darkness.
This week, tomorrow night to be exact, he will have on the Australian scholar, Greg Poulgrain who wrote the Incubus of Intervention about JFK, Dulles and Indonesia. I was in on this interview from Brisbane. To me, it was a bit shocking what Greg revealed. No one has ever been able to piece together what really happened on the night of September 30, 1965, which was the beginning of the end for Sukarno, who had been backed by JFK. The CIA backed plot to overthrow Sukarno--and supplant him with Suharto-- was considered by the Agency to be their masterpiece of covert action; and the rumor is David Phillips had been to Jakarta to help organize it in advance.
In this interview, Poulgrain reveals that he talked to one the alleged conspirators who was released from prison after Suharto fell. What this man told Greg is essentially the key to the jigsaw puzzle which no one could ever figure out before. In other words, there had been a lot of theories as to what happened. But now we know how it actually worked. Fifty years later.
It's important because, first what happened that night completely reversed Kennedy's policy in Indonesia, and second, thus began what is by far the bloodiest CIA coup in history. On the show you will hear as Greg corrects the previous estimates of how many died when Sukarno fell. It was twice as many as previously given.
Len's show should be on satellite if you ask me. Instead the public gets Howard Stern.
