"The philosophers have only interpreted the world, in various ways. The point, however, is to change it." Karl Marx

"He would, wouldn't he?" Mandy Rice-Davies. When asked in court whether she knew that Lord Astor had denied having sex with her.

“I think it would be a good idea” Ghandi, when asked about Western Civilisation.

While I've never checked-out the details of this story, Vanunu, the nuclear whistleblower of Israel has said things on this. From what I now know, I don't think Israel was the force behind the assassination, but attempts to push Israel to reveal its nuclear program secretly being aided by some utra-right military people in the U.S. might have been on someone's list of 'reasons why' he was terminated.

'Comments made by Vanunu during an interview with Al Hayat’s weekly magazine Al Wassat, published on July 25, made headlines around the world but were completely ignored in the United States, where they could have caused immense political damage to Israel. As The Jerusalem Post’s article headline read, “Vanunu: Israel behind JFK assassination.”

Russia’s Pravda article of July 27 began: “Israel may be implicated in the biggest crime of the past century, which took place in Dallas in 1963.”

Iran’s Tehran Times, writing from Jerusalem, said: “In a startling accusation, nuclear whistleblower Mordechai Vanunu has alleged that Jerusalem was behind the assassination of U.S. President John F. Kennedy, who was exerting pressure on the then Israeli head of state to shed light on the Dimona nuclear plant.”

Similar articles appeared in newspapers around the world, but in the United States this explosive news was only reported by wire services and in Jewish newspapers.'

I can't find the graph at the moment but it shows very clearly that there was minimal funding of Israel until LBJ. Then it really took off exponentially.

Funding is one thing [and there is both visible and 'black' funding, as well], but there were reputable rumours that Kerr-McGee Corp. supplied some of the U for Israel [and Karen Silkwood may have died for being on to part of this], as well as some involved with our nukes 'helping' Israel in order to have forward-based nukes in the Middle East under control of a 'friend'. Later, Israel helped S.A. build its bombs, probably also with USA secret support or at least full knowledge. JFK was simply looking into all kinds of corners and making all nature of decisions not liked by those who killed him. I don't think any one was the precipitating factor. Those who killed him each may have had their own personal favorite...but they had a laundry list of beyond the pale moves by JFK.

Forty million, all of which was food aid and development loans (and no military aid) at the time of JFK's death. However, in August 1962 Kennedy sent Myer Feldman to Israel to craft a deal that would tie the US supply of air defence HAWK missiles to Israeli concessions on the Palestinian refugee problem. (Cohen, p.111). Needless to say, JFK never got his concessions.

In 1964, LBJ negotiated a deal which saw Germany upgrade the IDF's tank fleet with M-48A3 tanks. Israel also acquired Phantom A-6 jets and subsonic Skyhawks. No concessions were given on the Palestinian refugees or Dimona. By 1966, US aid to Israel had climbed to $300 million, most of which was military aid. The 1967 war was planned well in advance.
