Strange Timing & Motive In Polanski Arrest
#1
If you've not heard Roman Polanski was arrested and is soon to be sent to the USA and spend the rest of his life in prison there for a crime 32 years ago the victim has asked be dropped. Further, he was arrested in Switzerland, where he has a home and has been in/out hundreds of times over the years - suddenly when the Swiss are under pressure from the USA. Third, his former wife was murdered by the apparently U.S. Strategy of Tension Manson Gang. He escaped the Warsaw Ghetto in his childhood, is a famous filmmaker, about on his way to pick up a lifetime achievement award....now [barring unforseen and almost unimaginable action] to rot in the American Gulag. Very strange.

I heard this too on the radio today and though much the same. He has been in and out of Switzerland countless times over the years. I didn't realise he owns a home there and that makes it even stranger. I find his crime repulsive but if he has conducted himself appropriately since then and if his victim has in some way come to terms with it and does not wish to pursue the matter I don't see why he had to be arrested now or ever. There have been plenty of other times and places he could have been arrested. Why don't they do something really useful and go and arrest Bush and Cheney and the Prince of Darkness instead of leaving it to the Spanish judge?

While I make no defense of his making 'love' to a 13 year old, she not long after the event, when an adult, formally asked the crime NOT be pursued - and has maintained that position for decades. [something that has no legal standing in the US]. I do feel there are some special circumstances in this case: His survival of the Warsaw Ghetto, his crimeless history since; his travel all over the world for many decades in countries that could have arrested and extradited him [including his home in Switzerland!]; the recent death of one of the killers of Sharon Tate not more than a few days ago; the current pressure the USA is making on the Swiss over bank secrecy [in order to get more tax revenue - the USA is being hypocritical, as it allows foreigners to hide their assets in shell-corporations in the USA!]; there was a plea-bargain arrangement the prosecution reneged on; the history of the Manson Family with U.S. intelligence...and more....there will be NO trial in the USA, if he is extradited [which I heard from legal experts he WILL be!]. He will just be placed in prison for the rest of his life.....

Polanski's long-running legal saga gained new momentum late last year with the release of an HBO documentary, "Roman Polanski: Wanted and Desired," which claimed misconduct by the now-deceased judge who handled 1977 case and reneged on a plea deal. With the new evidence presented in the film, Polanski sent a team of lawyers to court in Los Angeles seeking dismissal of the charges.

But despite acknowledging "substantial misconduct," a judge ruled that Polanski would have to appear in person to pursue his motion. Polanski's lawyers said he decided not to risk arrest on a fugitive warrant, and planned instead never to set foot in the United States.

His victim, Samantha Geimer, who long ago identified herself publicly, sued Polanski and reached an undisclosed settlement. But she has since joined in Polanski's bid for dismissal, saying she wants the case to be over and at one point offering to come to court in Polanski's place to argue for dismissal.

...your point is well taken - they always go after the easy small-fry...not the big sharks!

Polanski drugged and raped a 13-year-old girl he had booked for a photoshoot at the home of Jack Nicholson.

"Hollywood morals" is no defence. So, like you, I find his crime repulsive and morally indefensible.

I also have seen and heard enough to suspect that Polanski is a deeply disturbed and potentially violent individual. Whilst I agree with Peter that the Manson Family was a "strategy of tension" experiment, their victims were not randomly chosen.

There was some deeply nasty stuff going on in the Hollywood circles in which Polanski and the puppet Manson moved. Maury Terry turned over the rock to expose the underside, and everyone screamed and ran for cover....

Having said all that, the timing is interesting given Polanski's frequent trips to Switzerland.

This may have absolutely nothing to do with that, and I have no way of knowing, but I notified the Neue Zuercher Zeitung (nzz.ch) by way of a sworn affidavit, that a story that they carried ( http://www.bromox.de/Stimmen.htm) is factually incorrect according to evidence in my posession.

This is basically the evidence that Yesh M. Tembe may not have died on 9/11, but received a pension years later.
The original article is from the New York Times, but seems to be difficult to find in the english original on the web.

I urged the NZZ to investigate with all their available means. I also asked for a written receipt for my message, which, as of today, I did not receive. I will give them a few more days, before grabbing a telephone and talking to some people on the ground in Zurich.

Sometimes the responses of the system are unexpected.

Spooky.

The powers that be have had 32 years to 'bring him to justice' if that is what is needed. He served the agreed-upon two months in prison, but in ways not fully clear the Judge, after release, reneged on the plea-bargain. A Judge a year ago said that he saw large areas of judicial malfeasance in the original trial, but that he wouldn't rule without Polanski there, in person. While I can understand someone wanting to leave the USA's 'Justice' system [cough, cough] before 9-11, since, I can't imagine any sane person who'd readily submit to it....whatever strange things Polanski might have or have not been involved in or with. It smacks of O.J. Justice to me......and some points for the Swiss. I think in such a case one needs to look at ALL the factors involved. A coincidence that someone involved in Tate's murder died recently and can't tell all? I wonder....cynical 'ol me. No one is excusing his behavior....but I find it slightly less of a crime than those of, say, W, Rummy, Chaney, et al.....no one's going after them...not even a gesture of same....not to mention the innocent framed or railroaded and rotting in prison.

Also regarding Polanski, it seems to be a commonly used modus operandi of the CIA, that when they want to get hold of specific people that they cannot get to openly, that false charges are produced or real, minor charges are trumped up to force an extradition, or to at least threaten the victim enough that they won't talk.
I would be very interested in what Polanski could tell us about his involvement with US organizations, if any.
If anybody is interested, I have collected evidence of several such cases, sometimes successful (from the standpoint of the CIA), sometimes not.
Dirk Stoffberg, Reiner Jacobi, Russbacher etc. come to mind.
Interesting.

Polanski pleaded guilty to the charge (rape of a 13 year old girl) 30 odd years ago then fled the country before sentencing. There' no question about the man's guilt and I personally have zero sympathy for him.

What does interest me is the timing of the arrest. What exactly prompted it right now?

He's being reported here in the UK as having been 'on the run', whereas he owned a massive property in Switzerland which he lived in openly whilst travelling all over Europe and elsewhere.

It may just possibly be connected with the US / UBS fracas but I'm still intrigued.

Polanski was originally charged with sodomizing, ie anally raping, the 13-year-old girl. This charge was dropped as part of the plea bargain.

Didn't he also rape Natasha Kinski Wen she was 15 whilst filming Tess?
