Atkins film of SS agent who washed out limo
#11
Received this rapid and courteous response from Vince Palamara:

Quote:
Mystery solved; agent george w. Hickey ;r. (Agent samuel a. Kinney helped, but hickey is pictured). :-)

I looked at Vince's blog http://vincepalamara.blogspot.com/ as well as some excellent youtube material--encyclopedic.

I now find this fascinating article Vince apparently wrote in 1995 regarding agents Kinney and Hickey:

I would tend to believe Vince, but his Web page was not much help.
All those guys have fairly short hair and the guy in the film has longer black hair. I can't find a high enough resolution of the Betzner photo, but his hair looks more like the guy in the film. And Hickey said he help Kinney put the top on the limo.

Still looking for confirmation of the Agent in the brown shoes.

Probably Hickey

Thanks. He's too blond and short haired to be the guy next to the limo with the cloth. I tend to think it is Hickey, but I'd like a clear
photo of him to be sure.

Hi Anthony.

In this Parkland image the man standing next to Chief Currie appears to be carrying a coat, a checkered ( Tea Towel ) and another item which appears to be BLACKED out.

Could the tea towel have be used as a wash cloth. ?

No, I don't think that is a Tea Towel. I think that is the inner lining of the white coat. He's carrying the white coat underneath a black coat. Even though it is only a B&W print I think the coat is white.
The cloth in the film is orange. It appears to be a typical maintenance cleaning cloth. I estimated its size as 6 inches by 14 inches.

Gary Mack, who is having trouble using this forum, has found independent confirmation that it is George Hickey.

Hello folks. I finally got here to look at the pictures. Thanks for having me. In the frames the agent has the flag from the front bumper of the limo. Not a towel. Look closely and you can see the design. Hope this helps.

Deb, you wandered into the thread pretty late and you may not realize we are talking about two different objects.
One is the coat being carried by someone not near the limo.
Someone thought that might be the towel used to clean out the limo. But that material has a pattern to it which the clean up towel does not. The clean up towel is solid orange, no pattern, like an auto maintenance cloth.
The thing that someone thought was a tea towel is unrelated to the clean up cloth. It can not be a flag. It's pattern is more like a Tartan, not stripes. It is the inner lining of the white coat underneath the black coat.
I don't know if there is a color photo showing it, but there are better photos than have been posted here.
The flags are still seen on the Presidential limo in other photos.
Someone else's comments confused you.
