That's very gracious of you, Dawn, but really, there's no need for any apology. You had a strong view and expressed it forthrightly; and that's that. No offence was taken. Having watched half a dozen derbies from the Kop wearing a blue and white scarf, I rather suspect I've heard it all by way of insults.
On the more general point of such vigorous exchanges, I can only observe that it would be a damn dull website which didn't enjoy occasional flashes of passionate disagreement. After all, we come at the gloriously diverse topics abroad here from very different angles, and with sometimes profoundly irreconcilable conceptions of what is, and isn't, true and/or pertinent. So be it. The real tests remain - what are our grounds for holding the views we do? Do they constitute a coherence; and can they withstand scrutiny?
