Nice to hear there is more documentation now, but this is not news to me. Gehlen Org., indeed....and their strange bedfellows called the C.I.A.....then newborn from the OSS and some other 'threads'. Gladio goes back before there was a program named Gladio, just as fascism goes back in history way, way before Mussolini coined the term. In its current form, the 'Gladio' concept was the still-born child of one Otto Skorzeny...but he, in turn, had learned it from others before him. Sadly, it is with us still....I believe in 9-11-01 and many subsequent events....all under a very big umbrella I would that I'd put the name 'Gladio' on the folder for.....indeed, I do believe I have that folder around here....somewhere.....::

Having examined much of the data related to the 9/11 events, I am convinced a new and thorough investigation is needed. But when I have questioned the official narrative of 9/11 in my native Switzerland I have encountered vigorous objections from people. Why would any government in the world, they have asked, attack its own population or, only slightly less criminal, deliberately allow a foreign group to carry out such an attack? While brutal dictatorships, such as the regime of Pol Pot in Cambodia, are known to have had little respect for the life and dignity of their citizens, surely a Western democracy, the thinking goes, would not engage in such an abuse of power. And if criminal elements within a Western democracy, in North America or in Europe, had engaged in such a crime, would not elected officials or the media find out and report on it? Is it imaginable that criminal persons within a government could commit terrorist operations against innocent citizens, who support the very same government with the taxes they pay every year? Would nobody notice? These are difficult questions, even for academics who specialize in the history of secret warfare. But in fact, there are historical examples of such operations being implemented by Western democracies.

Our guest this week is Swiss historian Dr. Daniele Ganser, author of the seminal book NATO's Secret Armies: Operation GLADIO and Terrorism in Western Europe, who joins us for a fascinating (though at times unsettling) conversation on the subject of Operation GLADIO.
But was this morphing simply an unforseen consequence of the unaccountability and instability of the network itself? Or was it, at least in part, engineered by the very Anglo-American establishment which gave birth to the project in the first place? And to what extent, therefore, can such acts of terror be seen as manifestations of 'the strategy of tension', carried out by the State against its own citizens for the purposes of control at home and geopolitical gain abroad? (We also discuss: Operation Northwoods, the so-called War on Terror, 9/11 and the recent Charlie Hebdo attacks.)
"There are three sorts of conspiracy: by the people who complain, by the people who write, by the people who take action. There is nothing to fear from the first group, the two others are more dangerous; but the police have to be part of all three,"
Found an interesting website on Gladio, where one can get some good basic information with which to investigate further. It is obviously not written by a native English speaker, but one can understand what is being said. Here, for example, is information and links on Lemnitzer [links certainly NOT complete!] http://operation-gladio.net/node/749

I contacted some of the folks running that site late last year and mentioned DPF to them - they were happy when I gave them links to the Peter Bridges thread I'd posted here as it helped them ascertain who the Rome CIA Station Chief was for a certain time period that had been missing from their database. Very useful site.

Thanks. A really interesting site...
The shadow is a moral problem that challenges the whole ego-personality, for no one can become conscious of the shadow without considerable moral effort. To become conscious of it involves recognizing the dark aspects of the personality as present and real. This act is the essential condition for any kind of self-knowledge.

Carl Oglesby was heavily researching both Gehlen and Skorzeny in the 80's. He tried for years via Freedom of Information to obtain the Gehlen files. In the mid 90's he was finally successful and the boxes half filled a good sized bedroom. The rest of the room was filled with boxes of FBI files on Carl. For anyone interested all the Gehlen (and related files of Carl O) were donated by Carl to U Mass Amherst. (MA).

I found one of the best parts the links to documents...some I had...some I did not, but do now.

How much luck did he have on Skorzeny? I'm interested in him now.....he has his connections to Western Intelligence and Banksters all along.....

Peter:THANK YOU for this. As I recall he pretty much reached a dead end on Skorzeny, unless he had better luck after I moved to Austin (1990) and just never learned about it.
Wow Peter, I did not even know that link existed. Reading through it all was like re-living a lot of my own life from 1973-2011. I will have to make a special trip up there sometime and spend some time going through some of this stuff. As an aside, the way all of his works came to be donated to UMASS originated from a call from a women with whom he had gone to CUBA. As I recall she was working at UMASS at the time she contacted Carl- out of the blew after so many decades- and after several conversations she suggested he both: move to Amherst (where the rent was way cheaper than Cambridge) and donate all his material to UMASS.
This is what getting old is like: so many of your dearest friends just up and die.
