I imagine it is the same in the UK but I see clearly in Sweden and Australia how closely connected the PR industry and politics is. The main political advisor the present PM in Oz is from PR and it shows. Lots of smoke and mirrors and spin machines. Lots of manufactured images of how life should be rather than practical plans to manage how life is.

"He would, wouldn't he?" Mandy Rice-Davies. When asked in court whether she knew that Lord Astor had denied having sex with her.

Many intelligence proprietaries are PR firms...so they can do their dirty deeds both covertly and overtly! If my memory serves me correctly, John Perkins [Economic Hitman] was emplaced by the NSA [!] in a PR firm to do his arm twisting for Empire. Now with all the electronic surveillance of everyone, targets can have 'tailored' propaganda and mind-twisting....while the LOUD general hum of the propaganda machinery and the sonorous notes of the Mighty Wurlitzer play on.

Peter, in fact, his company was Chas. T. Main, which was an engineering consulting firm, or that was it's cover story. It was an extension of the NSA, as far as Perkins can gather. He says this:
Quote:Claudine [Perkins' trainer as an economic hit man] told me that there were two primary objectives of my work. First, I was to justify huge international loans that would funnel money back to MAIN and other U.S . companies (such as Bechtel , Halliburton, Stone & Webster, and Brown & Root) through massive engineering and construction projects . Second, I would work to bankrupt the countries that received those loans (after they had paid MAIN and the other U.S . contractors, of course) so that they would be forever beholden to their creditors, and so they would present easy targets when we needed favors, including military bases, U N votes, or access to oil and other natural resources . (p. 15)
MAIN was certainly an excellent example of rule from the shadows.

I was in contact with John Perkins when his book first came out and spoke to him by phone about his claims.
I'm just not sure.
There was something there that I couldn't actually put a finger on, but it aroused a suspicion.
The shadow is a moral problem that challenges the whole ego-personality, for no one can become conscious of the shadow without considerable moral effort. To become conscious of it involves recognizing the dark aspects of the personality as present and real. This act is the essential condition for any kind of self-knowledge. Carl Jung - Aion (1951). Do you reject all his work then?

I find John Perkins believable and talking sense.....there are several videos of him talking, such as the one below...and he's written two books.

No. But I was left pondering about the reliability of parts of it. As they say, the devil is in the detail.
If I recall correctly, I think it was Peter Dale Scott who said, in effect, that competent state propaganda/psyops are composed very largely of the truth (something like 90%) but contain one or two critical flaws which when (or if) placed under stress brings the whole structure down.
At the time I spoke to him, I was still heavily engaged on another story and had to ask myself should I continue with that, or follow my nose and instincts on this. I decided to do the former, as I had already invested years in it and wanted to finish it.
As I recall, it was the hesitation and/or evasiveness on some of the questions I posed that aroused some concerns. Sufficient anyway, for me to be - and remain - reserved about his story.
I may, of course, be doing him a terrible injustice. But I just can't shake that feeling/sense that not all was as it seemed.

For what it's worth I found his book badly written. Interesting story but really hard to read the book.

I tried reading it and gave up. One of the feelings I came away from our phone call was that he seemed to me to be quite muddled and unclear about a subject he was supposed to be an expert on.
Of course such things are very subjective, so I might be wrong...
