It's getting a little swampy in here. Read a little closer Greg. A large percentage say they either partially grew back or only grew back on one side. And you were the one mocking the notion of being able to tell the difference between regrown and original. What Don's post shows is that these people were very vocal about their tonsils regrowing. Read the comments. So why then is there no such indication with Oswald?
And one or two say they grew back bigger than ever. So what?
No indication from Oswald? No indication either way. Are the Marines supposed to record his objections that his tonsils had already been removed. I'm afraid medical records are not kept like that. Didn't get taken out to start with/grew back. Result is the same. Both scenarios are infinitely less whacky than saying it must have been someone else.
Apparently even Armstrong has taken the hint and requested his patented
MAGIC TONSILLECTOMY not be put up on the new site.
Your arguments here amount to... "well gee... it's rare that they grow back and that's close enough. You should leave us alone with our fantasies".
But close enough doesn't cut it, guys. And anyway that argument fails because it is only since they started removing the whole shebang has it become a rarity.

Oswald is one of the most scrutinized people in history. Look at the extreme minutia the Commission covered. Funny, they didn't cover this.

Why would they when those learned gentlemen probably new quite well that tonsils can grow back.
Just because Armstrong was ignorant of that fact, everyone else has to be as well?

After reading the arguments here, I'm preparing to put the
MAGIC TONSILLECTOMY right back up on the website, although I've sent a courtesy email to John to see if he has any objections. His original objection was that I made too big a deal out of four paragraphs in the 1000+ page Harvey and Lee. Thanks for bringing this back up!

From Harvey and Lee, p. 37:
In 1945 a tonsillectomy was as routine an operation as it is
today. It is performed by anaesthetizing the patient, propping the mouth open, depress-
ing the tongue, grasping the tonsils with a tenaculum, and then cutting out the tonsils.
The patient is then allowed to awake naturally from anesthesia. The operation is nearly
100% successful and only in extremely rare cases do tonsils re-appear. If and when ton-
sils do re-appear, they grow only to no more than 10% of their original size-not large
enough to require removal.

Gee! There's a good idea! I'll even link to it from the thread on the subject at my website!

GREAT! According to your stats, we might expect to add as many as two or three new readers to the 22,348 or so that have visited our site so far this year. Thanks!

OUCH!! A cutting remark from Mr. Hargrove. *Offers Mr. Parker a BandAid*
Mr. HILL. The right rear portion of his head was missing. It was lying in the rear seat of the car. His brain was exposed. There was blood and bits of brain all over the entire rear portion of the car. Mrs. Kennedy was completely covered with blood. There was so much blood you could not tell if there had been any other wound or not, except for the one large gaping wound in the right rear portion of the head.

Ah yes... the ol' quantity over quality is alive and well on these boards.

Well, he knew more than you did, Mr Cut-throat. But still no Kewpie doll. He is describing a MODERN day operation.
Here is what was done with Oswald:
Quote:There was a period of time when the method used to remove the tonsils made it more likely for them to grow back. This method, which involved leaving the outer portion of the tonsils intact in order to reduce pain and decrease the risk of bleeding, is no longer used. http://ent.about.com/od/entdisorderssu/f...ectomy.htm
