Haven't read it, but this book: Man of a Million Fragments: The True Story of Clay Shaw claims to have a chapter on his military career. I know nothing about the author and can not vouch for his being on the side of truth or not.
'Ya gotta look at a lot of books for hints in their reference sections and perhaps in the text - and compare them and don't believe anything as the truth ipso facto. Look into intelligence people G2 under Thrasher during WW2 etc.
