Well, it's Obama as alpha male of the US. He has the office but not the power.

Linda Minor Wrote:I found Judyth's book fascinating and quite credible. I had read Haslam's Ferrie, Mary and the Monkey Virus years ago, before anyone heard of Mary Vary Baker. Then I read the updated edition, which is much better. There were changes made in addition to the additional chapter which enlighten the reader as to Haslam's long-term interest in the monkey research that went on at Tulane.

In my opinion, there was a connection between certain universities in the South that were struggling to build up research facilities for decades--beginning at about the same time that Wilson became president--while at the same time selling medical services to anti-Communist dictators in various Central and South American countries. There seems to have been both a legitimate research group as well as some type of off-the-books network. Vary was hired to work on the legitimate project but says she met Oswald accidentally at the Post Office and was introduced to others in the black network and was therefore allowed to remain there for the summer.

Oswald never told her what intelligence group he was with which had loaned him to the CIA, but while she was working with Ferrie and Dr. Sherman on developing a cancer virus that could be used to kill Castro, she did learn that Oswald was being sent to Mexico, hoping to find a way to get the virus into the hands of someone who could have Castro injected with it.

Both she and Haslam attempted to explain how the cancer virus they were developing in Ferrie's apartment became tainted with one or more other monkey viruses then unknown, which seem to be identified with HIV/AIDS.

It's been well more than a year since I read either book, so I may have some of the facts skewed, but will be happy to look it up if anyone isn't already familiar with this story.

Judyth and I carried on an email exchange for many months back in 04- some of which is too private to post publicly- but I too found her to be extremely credible. As did Terry Mauro. When I have more time I will add a bit more, but as I said some I cannot post. (It has to do with what happened to her and her work ).

Ugh! Well, if you've not heard yet...you'll hear now. HRC has been tapped to be Sec. of State. It isn't official, but it is now as per usual...being floated to see what the reaction will be - and if not obverse - she'll be 'in'. Obama's Administration is really shaping-up as warmed-over Clinton. I guess it was to be expected - the best we can get top-down is not very good at all. Time to do a lot of bottom-up pushing and demos in the street. I suggest we start with the bail-out of the rich and the ongoing wars - not to mention immediate repeal of all legislation put into effect over the last 8 years...and then we'll demand the ones put in under Clinton repealed, as well. I'm sick and tired of being sick and tired!

I thought it quite likely she would be picked as his running mate anyway.

Just more of the business as usual sleight of hands, eh.
The shadow is a moral problem that challenges the whole ego-personality, for no one can become conscious of the shadow without considerable moral effort. To become conscious of it involves recognizing the dark aspects of the personality as present and real. This act is the essential condition for any kind of self-knowledge.

All of Obama's appointments so far have been nauseating, but the handover of foreign policy to the pant-suited warmonger is the worst of all.

I expected little from Obama and he has not disappointed.

Myra, I think you are correct, we can be sure that for the most part the Obama Adminstration will dissappoint. He will remove some of the very aggregious actions of Bush, perhaps and they will be pointed to to divert attention from the 'all steady as she goes' with the ship of state - especially on Foreign Policy and Trickle-Up Voodoo Economics. To me the real test will be if he dares to undo the unPatriot Act and all of its follow-on legislation. Don't hold one's breath. Those who could make real change were weeded-out long ago in the process and not allowed to even run [really] - even for Congress. We got the better of the bad. Now that we've broken the color barrier to the top office, I wonder if we can break the hold-fast of the Corporately MIMTC-owned crowd. Hey, I've got a great new idea - what about democracy?! Nah...

I am glad that Hillary is SOS. Many reasons, she won't be running in 2012, I think she will be great with foreign leaders, they may even become less sexist (the mideast ones I am referreing to here). SHe is a FAR CRY from Condi- Yes she voted wrongly on the war and it cost her the election in my opinion. But Obama is doing what Lincoln did - putting his former rivals in some cabinet positions. Kinda like CD's admonition "keep your friends close and your enemies closer". I even didn't HATE Ziggy when I saw him on tv the other night. I saw a hint of humanity that I never saw in Kissinger. Something akin to idealism. It was the first time I'd ever actually seen him so I was taken aback as I 'd been so accoustomed to thinking of him as evil. (Perhaps he just projects well on tv.)

Anyway, let's not judge all this until he's actually there and see what he does or does not do. I am pretty cynical too, but Obama compared to Bush and Darth Vadar....I am still afraid W will start WW 111 before 1/20.

Keeping Gates on in any position is a very bad sign and what little hope I had for 'change' is now spelled 'no change!' or 'spare change?'.
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2008/11/19...44874.html Gates is a spook and a militarist [as if there ever was much of a difference...]. The only question remaining is how much of this is Obama-driven and how much he is being led or pushed into all of these no-change as change appointments. The answer, however, is rather academic and the results that matter unchanged.
