In this article I mention Warren Carroll, the CIA propaganda specialist who wrote the "Heroes" LifeLine piece that inspired Ruby.

Carroll died July 17.

If an individual, through either his own volition or events over which he had no control, found himself taking up residence in a country undefined by flags or physical borders, he could be assured of one immediate and abiding consequence: He was on his own, and solitude and loneliness would probably be his companions unto the grave.
-- James Lee Burke, Rain Gods

You can't blame the innocent, they are always guiltless.  All you can do is control them or eliminate them.  Innocence is a kind of insanity.

I just read your three-part essay. An excellent panoply of propagandists.

A woman retired from a life in the foreign service named Nepal as her favorite post.

"We would have lunch with the King. He would tell you a beautiful story. It wasn't the truth, but it was a beautiful story."

All these people have dedicated their lives to telling us a beautiful story.

Your notes pin them to a board for idenitification.
