Hi, Edwin,

I attended the ASK Conferences initiated by Mary Ferrell, Gary Shaw, and another member of that group whose name escapes me - Larry Harris? - in November 1991-1994. The purpose was to get government documents about the assassination opened to the public. ASK, and Oliver Stone's movie, JFK, led to the passage of the act signed into law by President H.W. Bush and the formation of the Assassinations Records Review Board(ARRB) by President Bill Clinton.

These yearly meetings in Dallas included many Dallasites, such as Beverly Oliver who spoke at each one I attended beginning in 1991, 1993, 1994, and then when the Lancer and COPA meetings replaced the ASK Conferences, ASK having accomplished its mission with the establishment of the ARRB. I recall that she did speak of this before her book was written and published. It seems to me that the Roscoe White story came about as the result of Jack White's work on the backyard photo of "Oswald' with rifle and literature in his hands, and this came about at least 2 or 3 years after 1991. The Ricky White story erupted much later after that as I recall. If anyone has a better memory of the time sequence,
please correct me.

ASK, by the way, stood for Assassination Symposium on Kennedy.

the roscoe white story sounds plausible and there are dark overtones to the aftermath of the telling ..however one flaw is the fact that ricky says TWO cops were in the car his father and tippitt ..no witness ever claimed that during the tippitt shooting ...

Based on a link forwarded to me by a lurker I've concluded there probably is some credibility to the Roscoe White story. Since DiEugenio has exposed Dave Perry's possible intel links and motivations I find Mr Perry uses some classic intel methods to try and discredit the story. He uses all the tricks like claims of profit motives and semantic obfuscation classic of intel ops. Mr Perry sounds like McAdams. Thanks. Once again, an article trying to debunk the claim leads me to the opposite conclusion.

Edwin,

I am not familiar with this claim by Ricky White that his father, Roscoe White, and Tippit were in the car together, or I simply don't remember it. Did he mean they were together in Tippit's car at the time of the Tippitt shooting at Tenth and Patton Streets? Did Ricky think Roscoe might have killed his father? Some people have speculated that Tippit was shot by a member of the Dallas Police.

I kmow nothing about guns, other than what I have read by others who exhibit expertise about firearms. I understand that Oswald had a revolver which takes bullets that have no cartridges. Automatic pistols, however, do take bullets with cartridges. I recall it was Officer Poe on the crime scene who placed his initials on the cartridges found on the ground near Tippit's body. There were later questions by Poe when he re-examined his evidence which added more questions.

According to one witness who saw the entire event, there were two men who walked up to Tippit's car. One man was short and heavy, had a gun, and had bushy hair she had said later, which was not Oswald, and the other man was quite tall and thin, again not resembling Oswald. Neither one wore police uniforms. This witness observed them from her home and front street, but I don't believe that her testimony was given to the Warren Commission. Her name was Acquilla Clemons.

From my Google search for the spelling of Ms. Clemons' name: Search term for Google: (Aquila Clemons + shooting of Officer Tippit)

Methinks Mr. Ortiz is easily misled or is a misleader. Without going into details, much of 'Roscoe White' 'story' was produced by the very crowd in charge of the JFK assassination cover-up and was false. As with all good disinformation, it also contained some elements of truth...but the false bits were set as traps to ensnare researchers and to then equate the truthful bits [or yet undiscovered real bits] with the false and planted bits. I could go into details. Jack White and others could likely do a better job of it [but, as mentioned, Jack is not well enough, sadly, at this time to do so], but somehow have not yet gotten the sense that this thread is a real appeal for information or a platform for disinformation. Sorry, if I have it wrong Mr. Ortiz...just a gut feeling after long years in these 'ol 'cotton fields'. :wirlitzer:

My 'act' as you so indelicately put it is 'together'. You just here to rustle the bushes?! There is a world of difference between real information and flase planted information [the former much suppressed about Dallas; the later all too much of - both at the hands of the official cover up which started before the deed, and continues still!]. IMO, after decades of work on this matter, R. White was involved in the assassination and with others involved in the assassination; however, the son and the researchers pursuing his role were [in part] fed DISinformation to throw them off the scent trail to his real role. What they had to present was a mixed bag of part truth and part planted untruths. Get your disruption act together, perhaps.

You offer nothing to this discussion but questions and doubt. Is that your game? Looks like it. As I said in my very first post, I have [and a few others have] information on this matter that is NOT going public at this time. Make of that whatever you will. You'll find out by the 50th. Such stealth is sometimes necessary to counter the enemy and to keep from harm. If you don't get that - you don't belong here. Try McAdams.
